Director Anurag Basu’s heartwarming tale becomes one of the biggest hits of the year
Ranbir Kapoor has found the biggest hit of his career so far in the form of Barfi! And not only that, the actor has also entered the much-coveted 100-crore club with the film – a place enjoyed by stars like Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan so far. Barfi! had collected Rs 98.8 crore in India by the end of Monday, October 1, and after Tuesday’s collections (which are estimated to be around Rs 3 crore, thanks to a national holiday), the Anurag Basu movie starring Ranbir, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D Cruz has now crossed Rs 100 crore at the Indian box office.
The film had made Rs 58.6 crores in its opening weekend and is still going strong at the box office. It seems like its a special day for leading lady Priyanka too, who now has a second 100-crore film to her name in one year. Earlier this year, Agneepath too had crossed the mark. And the timing of this seems to be perfect too as PeeCee’s first single also released on ITunes today and she was seen gracing the home page of the ITunes stores in the US. The other films to have made over Rs 100 crores this year are Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore and Ek Tha Tiger.
The movie has done well overseas too. “The film is Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest hit in overseas… total after 3rd Weekend UK 622,039 pounds (Rs5.30 cr) … USA $2,462,008 (Rs12.89 cr),” tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Amidst all the controversies about the film’s scenes being blatantly copied from old classics, the audiences have given their verdict – Barfi! is now officially a blockbuster!

Director Sohail Khan’s action flick starring the ‘Tiger’ of Bollywood now seems to have the ‘Jungli billi’ on board
Salman Khan’s next Eid attraction Sher Khan has been in the news ever since it was announced. The only reason for this is Salman’s recent track record at the BO. He has been churning out blockbuster after blockbuster, and is on top of the numbers game. Buzz is that his fans will pay just to see him fool around, serenade a pretty girl (preferably Katrina Kaif) and briefly go shirtless while beating goons into pulp (our exhibitor friend let us in on this secret…. shhh). While these are the constant features in a Salman film, the leading ladies keep changing.
And now comes the new flick from brother Sohail Khan. The latest buzz about Sher Khan is that it has been scrapped and Sohail is planning to produce the remake of South Indian flick Brindavanam. The news that is even more interesting is that Priyanka Chopra, with all her lobbying and befriending Sallu’s sister, has bagged the female lead in Sohail’s next. Now whether it is Sher Khan or the Brindavanam remake, only time will tell. But we must say that the late night revelry, posing for photogs and rubbishing link-ups as baseless rumours…it all seems to have paid off well for Piggy Chops. She had reportedly fallen out with ‘Blockbuster’ Khan many summers ago, but now to get back into the topmost league of B-town girls, Ms Chopra has to bag a plum project with him. Not just that, she also has to charm her way into an Aamir Khan project, a first for her. Phew… so much for staying on top of the numbers game!

From crass wrangles to being mocked for making disapproving remarks about Karan Johar, Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and other popular names from the showbiz industry, indirectly though, Priyanka Chopra has had several ups and downs this year.
Those who aren’t aware of the reason for which PC made headlines in the past, here’s a quick recap. PC was in news when she deployed friends to settle scores with her foes and her attempts at burying the hatchet with Karan Johar and Gauri Khan. She achieved the impossible when she made was invited to Karan’s birthday bash, had the director say positive things about her to the press and get her to promote her film “Teri Meri Kahaani” in the opening episode of his show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa”.
In one of her interviews, the actor explained what worked in her favour. “Now I don’t talk about him at all. I’ve always respected, emulated and idolised him but I don’t like to talk about it anymore,” she had said.
In her recent interview, the actor admitted 2012 has been a ‘traumatic, but a truthful year’. When asked about her current equation with Shah Rukh, she said, “SRK and I have always been and will always be friends.”
“Yes. Always were and always will be. At least from my end. I don’t know and I don’t wish to tell people what my equation is with any actor. It is not necessary. I owe 90 per cent of my life to people because I am a public figure, but 10 per cent is private to me. And I am not saying it in a defensive way. I feel my life has been made into a TV serial,” she added.
On being questioned if she is still in touch with him, PC replied, “I don’t think it’s anyone’s business. People make unnecessary assumptions and I would rather refrain from talking about it. If I say anything, someone will pick up the story and then it’ll turn into an avalanche. Jab Tak Hain Jaan is releasing, it looks incredible and I wish him the best of luck and that’s it. There’s nothing more to say when it comes to him. There’s no uncomfortable situation with him."
How about being subjected to speculation? “Peope have the right to speculate as I am a public person and it comes with the territory. I have been controversy’s favourite child. But because I have been a little aloof all along, the speculations have taken on epic proportions. I don’t socialise. I am a very ‘kaam se kaam wala’ (minding my own work) person. I hang out with the crew I work with, and part ways with them when the shoot is wrapped up. I have never had more than four days off between films. In all my nine years in the industry, I’ve worked a lot compared to other people who debuted with me.
I love my job and I get my jobs on merit. I don’t have a film background, nor did I have a mentor. In fact, my family had not seen Mumbai till I became Miss World. So my career has been my acting school. I have fallen, gotten up and dusted myself off, all by myself. I take pride in where I am. But suddenly, it felt as though Priyanka was an untouchable.
The reality of the situation wasn’t as dramatic as it’s made out to be. It wasn’t like I was traumatised and crying. Aisa kuch nahin huwa (nothing like that happened). I am a tough chick. I can deal with a lot.
But yes, the position that fame gives you can be cruel sometimes. The pressure that comes with it is unkind. Every industry is cruel. Everybody plays games in the business. There’s bitching, under-cutting, politics etc. It can be dealt with. But being under the microscope and having to deal with certain norms set by society or the people around me is a pain.
I think it’s great to be flawed. I am hugely flawed and I like it this way. That’s the fun of life. You fall, get up, make mistakes, learn from them, be human and be you,” she said.

| Priyanka Chopra not in item song for Shootout at Wadala

Actress Priyanka Chopra has brushed aside rumours that she will feature in an item number in Ekta Kapoor's Shootout at Wadala.
"No, till now I am not doing any song in any other film except for my films," the 30-year-old said at the People's Choice awards.
Priyanka is working for Ekta's Milan Talkies, and she is excited about working with the producer.
"This (Milan Talkies) is my first film with Ekta. Right now we are working out the dates and hopefully it will be fun," said the National award-winning actress, who refused to divulge any more details about the movie.
"Right now, it's too early to talk about Milan Talkies. Till now, I am near the completion of Krrish 3 and will start with Zanjeer (remake), only then we will start with Milan Talkies and Gunday," she added.

| PeeCee gets her claws out for Bebo

The world knows that Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor have not exactly been the best of friends. The simmering rivalry between the two gorgeous ladies has often erupted in public, leading to some headline-worthy moments - remember Pee Cee’s retort to Bebo’s quip about her accent? “I got it the same place where her boyfriend got it from,” she had said on KJo’s show. Or the more recent serve and volley over National Awards when PeeCee responded to Bebo’s comment on not caring about the awards by saying, “Only those who don’t have one pretend not to care.”
And much as they try to convince their fans that they have buried the hatchet, fact is, the two stars are back to doing what they do best - let the claws out with a snarl and a growl.
At a recent awards function, where PeeCee was slated to perform, the actress, who has been enjoying a bit of hard-won success, made it amply clear that she was not willing to play second fiddle to Kareena. Especially at a time when she has had a string of very successful films to her credit, whereas Kareena’s magnus opus has been an unmitigated disaster.
An eye witness told Mirror, “Priyanka, who was supposed to dance to Yash Chopra’s songs had been practising hard since the afternoon. She had been sweating it out on the floor when, closer to the show time she noticed Kareena sailing in. This was her first public appearance post wedding, and Bebo simply breezed in and out without putting in even as much as a fraction of the effort or time that Priyanka had for the show. This irked PeeCee to no end.”
Sources close to the actor revealed, she threw a fit behind closed doors, upset with the organisers with their “preferential treatment.” “And though she was professional enough to go through the rest of the evening, she was visibly agitated,” said the source, adding, “Her argument was, why would a star of her stature be expected to go through the grind of rehearsals when her contemporary is allowed to breeze in and out?” Why indeed.
Interestingly, in spite of all the coordinated photo ops to establish their camaraderie, PeeCee wasn’t invited for any of Saif-Kareena’s wedding functions.

| Is Priyanka Chopra the perfect choice for MC Mary Kom’s biopic?

Priyanka Chopra is all set to play the protagonist in Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Omang Kumar’s directorial venture, based on the life of Olympic winning boxer MC Mary Kom.
But since it’s a biopic, the initial buzz was that the director wanted everything to be bang on, which is why he wanted someone with oriental features, and someone who could match the mannerisms of Kom. But after lots of auditioning, seems like Mr Kumar either couldn’t find the right candidate or he realised that he needed to make his project commercially viable. There is no doubt that we would love to watch PC pack some mean punches and mesmerise us with her thespian skills par excellence. But is PC the perfect choice to play MC?
Why we think PC is perfect for the role: The actor has the perfect lean bod that can be moulded to suit Mary Kom’s physique. Also, she is fit and agile, has the right attitude and the potential to portray Kom’s life perfectly. In fact, the babe is not leaving a single stone unturned when it comes to doing her homework. We hear she will be training with the MK for four months to learn the ropes of boxing and will also head to Manipur to know more about the athlete’s lifestyle. Chopra has already started with her research and discovered a great deal about the boxer’s family. Her dedication is one reason why we think she’s absolutely apt for this role.
Why we think PC is not a cut out for this role: No matter how much she tries, PeeCee can never look like Mary Kom! Her features are not even remotely similar to MK’s oriental looks. Probably Chopra will make up for the loopholes by working hard on her body language.
Well, we are sure the Chopra chick will quite successfully step into the sporty shoes of the strong boxer, just like the way she took to the mike and launched her groovy music album.

The director has completed shoot for second schedule of the Zanjeer remake in Hyderabad
The onscreen chemistry between Priyanka Chopra and Ram Charan Teja in the Zanjeer remake is surprisingly refreshing, says filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia.“The chemistry of Priyanka and Ram Charan is looking 2,000 times better than what I had expected. They both are looking surprisingly refreshing onscreen,” says Lakhia.
The movie is the remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s 1973 film of the same name. Priyanka joined the cast and crew for the film’s second schedule in Hyderabad a few days back. Lakhia says, “It was superb shooting in Hyderabad. We finished the second schedule at a stretch. The film has shaped up very well… that’s all I can say as a director.”
Produced by Reliance Entertainment, Amit Mehra and Flying Turtle Films, Zanjeer is scheduled to release on April 12, 2013.

| Priyanka Chopra beats Kareena Kapoor and Sridevi to win BollywoodLife Award for Female Rockstar of 2012!

Priyanka Chopra has had a great 2012 with two Rs 100 crore films – Agneepath and Barfi! and an American pop album in her kitty. The babe has managed to remain in the news constantly – be it for her performance as the autistic Jhilmil, or for her friendship with Salman Khan. So it wasn’t a big surprise that she managed to receive 21.5 percent votes from BollywoodLife readers to win the title of the female rockstar of 2012.
The battle was a closely fought one. Kareena Kapoor (with 20.8 percent votes) and Sridevi (with 20. 4 percent votes) came really close to winning the title. After her big comeback with English Vinglish, Sri is now giving the current crop of actors a run for their money. Katrina Kaif, who is high on the success of Ek Tha Tiger and Jab Tak Hai Jaan, came fourth with 15.2 percent votes.
Vidya Balan, who impressed one and all with her performance in Kahaani earlier in the year, didn’t find much favour with our readers (12 percent votes). Deepika Padukone (7.6 percent) and Parineeti Chopra (2.5 percent) made it to the 6th and 7th spot respectively.
Let’s hope the fight for the top spot continues to get hotter in the coming year. Best of luck, ladies!

The official video of Priyanka Chopra’s In My City featuring will.i.am is finally out, and must say Priyanka looks super hot in all her outfits, and makes some great style statements in this young, vibrant and colourful video. A golden jacket and golden sandals teemed with a pink shirt and shimmery pink shorts makes for an interesting look. And so does the black shorts and suspenders under a midriff-length white vest combo.
PeeCee mixes western dance movements with Bollywood style thumkas, pelvic thrusts and breast heaving to make it a fun dance experience, especially in the drum portions that have been inserted into the video. But what’s up with the namaste pose in the middle of the song? Now that was kinda funny!
Anyway, what we liked is that PC didn’t try to make this video pseudo Indian or wannabe American. Yes, we have definitely seen better music videos coming out of the US dance music scene, and this one could have done with a better concept. Yet, it’s good enough for a first. We like!

Trust Priyanka Chopra to do something wacky in her first item number Babli badmaash in Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout at Wadala. Just when every other heroine is shaking a leg in those sexy cholis and dangerously low-waist lehengas, PC has stepped on the next rung of the ladder, making all the other A-list divas go green with envy by giving a crazy twist to her item number costume. Just like Amitabh Bachchan in Yaarana (1981), the Chopra chick will be seen wearing an ensemble which is a mix of rubber and leather and has LED lights fitted on it. Remember how Bachchan rocked to Saara Zamana in that light emanating outfit? Women drooled, and the star created quite a furore with his entertaining signature steps. Well, PC is just wearing a modern version of that super cool design.
And the babe is all set to take some serious inspiration from the Yaarana star. The creation she will be wearing is designed by Manish Malhotra, and the song, we hear, is going to have a very retro feel. Expect it to be an out-and-out funky number ‘coz it’s sung by the super talented Sunidhi Chauhan, composed by Anu Malik and choreographed by Ahmed Khan.
Ekta Kapoor wanted her first association with PC to be very special, which is why the crew came up with this innovative idea. After all, Priyanka is not the kind who is made for run-of-the-mill stuff, right? So let’s see if Ms P can blow us away with her jhataak outfit, without the light fading away into nothing, of course!

| Did the makers of Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom biopic cheat a US-based makeup artiste?: Exclusive photos!

American makeup artiste Mark Garbarino, who worked on Priyanka Chopra’s look for the Mary Kom biopic being produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and directed by Omung Kumar, says he’s not been paid for his time and effort. He sent us exclusive photos of what he has done to PC’s face…take a look!
Just when we were wondering if the makers of Priyanka Chopra’s new film on boxer Mary Kom’s life will resort to VFX or prosthetics to make the actor look like the Olympic medal winner, we discovered a fresh controversy about the movie. We received an email from a certain Mark Garbarino who claims to have worked on Priyanka’s look, using his makeup skills to transform the babe into a gal from Northeast India. And the gentleman is indeed most annoyed! But why?
The US-based makeup artiste tells us that he worked on PeeCee’s look to give her face that Oriental look, but hasn’t been paid yet. “After providing a couple Photoshop renderings for $325 USD, they (the makers of the movie) requested I meet the actress on April 7th at her Los Angeles hotel for a face cast and makeup tests. The process of creating a prosthetic requires the actor’s facial reproduction in order to sculpt a new look upon, and then this is molded and cast in a very expensive silicone material,” reads the email. From what we see in these pictures, Priyanka has been fitted with a prosthetic eyelid to suit her look for the movie.
The statement also complains that the makers of the movie have stopped responding to Mark’s calls or texts. “From April 7-14, I visited her three times, with different sculpted prosthetics, at the Beverly-Wilshire Hotel, and cordially performed a series of evolving Asian ethnic prosthetic eyelid looks. For the next 10 days, all at Blue Lotus refuse to discuss the matter of payment, which I reduced to $4,500 USD for my material expenses and labor. They are the legal property of Mark Garbarino, as no payment was ever made to me from an outside entity,” the email details.
Only two days back we told you how the makers of the biopic first decided to use prosthetics, but then settled on creating Priyanka’s look using special effects produced by Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chillies VFX. And we show you just what that is – or at least trials of PC’s appearance – with the exclusive pictures that Mark Garbarino has decided, in his anger, to leak. Is the film going to get into some trouble now over non-payment issues? We have to wait to find out more about that. For now, we wonder how the makers of the movie will respond to this ‘revealing’ story!

| Priyanka Chopra to be beside her father as next 48 hours critical ?

As per latest updates Priyanka Chopra is spending the night at the hospital after the doctors have rumoured to have declared her father critical.
If sources are to be believed, Dr Ashok Chopra health has deteriorated in last 24 hours.
Sources added that Priyanka, her mother Madhu and brother have been reportedly informed that the next 48 hours are critical for her father. The actress has been shutting between hotel and hospital, as per sources she has decided to be next to her father during the crucial hours spending the night at the hospital.
We hope and pray that Dr Ashok Chopra has a speedy recovery giving loads of relief and smile to his family.

Mumbai, June 10: Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra's father Ashok Chopra, who passed away Monday afternoon, was cremated Monday evening at Oshiwara crematorium here.
Many Bollywood celebrities - including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Parineeti Chopra, Karan Johar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Punit Malhotra, Anurag Basu, Ramesh Taurani, Arjan Bajwa - attended the cremation.
The last rites of Ashok Chopra took place between 5.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m.
Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor reached Kokilaben Hospital after hearing of Ashok Chopra's demise and were with Priyanka and her family when the body was taken to her residence.
Ashok Chopra was admitted to hospital 17 days ago as he was undergoing cancer treatment for the past few years. He was at the terminal stage of the disease.
Priyanka Chopra had cancelled all her shoots and was by his side for the past few days.
Ashok Chopra, a doctor, had retired from the army in 1997 as a lieutenant colonel.
He is survived by his wife Madhu, also a former army doctor, daughter Priyanka and son Siddharth.

Promoting the film, Priyanka Chopra recently made a public appearance in a short, cropped top and a pair of skinny denims -- pulling all the attention towards her thin waist that was
adorned with a diamond navel ring. Though Priyanka looked picture perfect in her
hourglass frame and chiseled abs, there was something on her waist that couldn't
skip the camera's lenses.
Priyanka, it seems, accidently showed off her waist marks that were visible in her cropped top. Now, whether that was a concealing job gone wrong or
something else, nobody knows. All we know is that makeup artists often warn the
beautiful ladies that foundation is meant not just for the face, but all the
exposed parts of the body.
