MUMBAI, Actor Shahid Kapoor is all praise for his "Mausam" co-star Sonam Kapoor and called her "special".
"I think Sonam is a wonderful looking girl and she looks very simple and innocent. This is the reason why dad (actor-director Pankaj Kapur) was keen to cast her in 'Mausam'. In her upcoming film ('Players'), she is looking wonderful. I think she is always a special actress because I did 'Mausam' with her which was special to me," Shahid told reporters at the Colgate Maxfresh party.
Despite link-up rumours, Shahid is single ever since he broke off with Kareena Kapoor in 2007.
Some reports even claim he is commitment phobic. But the actor responded: "That I am commitment phobic? No, I am not commitment phobic. I don't react to most things."
The 30-year-old, who has hits like "Vivah", "Jab We Met", and "Kaminey" in his kitty, seems to have become selective about movies as he had only one release this year.
As for new projects, he is currently working in Kunal Kapoor's film "Teri Meri Kahani" along with Priyanka Chopra and Prachi Desai.

Just as the actor lands his first KJo project with Punit Malhotra, his Mausam co-star officially walks out of it. Bad weather forecast?

Shahid Kapoor's single status seems to be working in his favour, especially for his professional life. The actor was slated to work on his first Dharma Production in 2005 in Karan Johar's Kaal. But due to the cold war between his then girlfriend Kareena Kapoor and KJo, Shahid reportedly opted out of the venture.
However, Mumbai Mirror has learnt that the actor has got himself a second chance at being a part of the KJo camp. A source from the production house revealed that Shahid has been roped in to replace Imran Khan in Punit Malhotra's next.
According to the source, Imran opted out of the film as he wanted to focus on Vishal Bhardwaj's Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola. And so, Karan Johar and Malhotra decided to cast Shahid in the film.
The source added, "Previously, Shahid was supposed to be a part of Soham Singh's directorial venture, Kaal. But at the last moment, he backed out of the film. Shahid was with Kareena back then and since she had a tiff with KJo about his decision to cast Preity Zinta in Kal Ho Na Ho instead of her, Shahid opted out for the sake of solidarity. And since then, he hadn't been offered a role in a Dharma Production."
Despite repeated attempts, Shahid Kapoor remained unavailable for comments.
Meanwhile...
Her debut film I Hate Luv Storys, directed by Punit Malhotra, has been the only hit of her career till date. And so, the news of Sonam Kapoor no longer being a part of the director's next has stirred up a whirlwind of rumours. A source close to the developments revealed to Mumbai Mirror that with Shahid being brought on-board the film, KJo was reluctant to pair them up again after the reception Mausam received.
The source explained, "Shahid recently confirmed that he would be a part of the film. Once that was decided, Karan and the unit felt that Sonam should not be a part of the film, especially since their last film Mausam did not do well at the box-office. It was evident that their on-screen pairing did not work for the film and so, the makers did not want to repeat the same mistake. As a result, the filmmakers are in search of a new leading lady."
However, a friend of Sonam defended, "Sonam had opted out of the film a long time ago. Ever since Imran decided to concentrate on Vishal Bharadwaj's film, Sonam too opted out."

After signing his first film with Karan Johar and getting back into the YRF camp, Shahid Kapoor has treated himself to a custom-made red Jaguar five days back. And the specially made XKRS has cost him close to a one and half crore.
His new Jag has made Shahid a part of the elite club of Bollywood comprising Ekta Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Karan Johar, Hrithik Roshan, who already own a model of this British luxury car.

| Shahid kapoor opts out of Dharma film

Shahid Kapoor's dream of working with Karan Johar's Dharma productions will have to wait for a while. The actor, who had been keen to star in Punit Malhotra's next venture with the banner, has had to opt out due to date problems.
And this is no good news for the young filmmaker either. After his debut directorial I Hate Luv Storys, Punit has wanted Imran Khan for his next. Imran, busy with his Vishal Bhardwaj film Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola had been unable to allot dates to Punit. That's when Shahid had stepped in. However, now, even Shahid's inclusion in the project isn't possible.
According to a source close to the project, "Shahid, Punit and Kjo have had multiple meetings. This was going to be Shahid's first film with Dharma. Everything was going great until Maneesh Sharma had a slip disc."
Sharma’s next film with Shahid yet untitled has been pushed to July-August because of his illness.That's the time when Punit's film goes on floors too. Shahid, who had already committed to Maneesh's project, thus had to opt out of the Dharma venture.
"Shahid spoke to Karan about it. It was a mutual decision. They have decided to do another film together," added our source.
Punit's problem of losing his lead actor is now being worked out by Karan Johar himself. "Karan is looking for a suitable replacement for Shahid," said the source.
Karan Johar and Shahid Kapoor did not revert to our multiple text messages.

Shahid Kapoor is definitely not known for throwing parties. However, the actor has always celebrated his birthday in a big way. While last year, the actor had invited all his Bollywood friends minus ex-girl Priyanka to bring in his birthday at a suburban Mumbai nightspot, this year, he plans to go a little farther. Mumbai Mirror has learnt that Shahid is all set to throw a big bash in Morjim beach, Goa. Interestingly, while most of his friends flew down for the big party last night, Nargis Fakhri accompanied Shahid in his flight to Goa on Wednesday morning.
A source close to the actor told Mumbai Mirror, “Shahid had planned his birthday in a big way. He flew down to Goa two days before the party to arrange things. The party will be held at his friend’s bungalow in Morjim beach.”
Among the many invited for the party, Tabu, Ahmed Khan, Genelia D’Souza, Rani Mukerji, Siddharth Anand and Kunal Kohli were expected at the venue on Wednesday night.
However, like last year, Priyanka Chopra remains off the guest list this year as well. Though the ex-lovers while working on Kunal Kohli’s film Teri Meri Kahaani had maintained a cordial relationship, personally, the equation has apparently not changed.

| Shahid-Ranbir will team up for Aankhen 2

He had been toying with the idea of a sequel to his 1993 blockbuster Aankhen starring Govinda and Chunky Pandey. And finally, Pahlaj Nihalani has decided to go ahead with it. Interestingly, the filmmaker has decided to rope in Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles.
The filmmaker confirmed the news and told Mumbai Mirror, "I have sounded off Ranbir for Aankhen 2 and I intend meeting Shahid very soon for the same. The only other thing that I can say at this point is that Aankhen 2 will be funnier than my original Aankhen."
And for this funnier Aankhen, Pahlaj, according to sources, has decided to have both his lead actors in double roles. The '93 version had only Govinda in a double role.
Though the exact roles of Shahid and Ranbir are still undecided, a source revealed that Pahlaj is busy working out the final script for the project and plans to take it on the floors by the end of this year.
"As soon as the script is ready, Pahlaj will make an official announcement. The director and the two girls are also still to be decided," added the source close to the project.
And while the young actors have been sounded off, the source told us that Govinda and Chunky Pandey might not be a part of the sequel.

Some pray. Some build temples. Some even hurl themselves on the unsuspecting celebrity. But Shahid Kapoor's fans buy a star for their star. As a birthday present for the actor who turned 31 on February 25, his fans have bought him a gift that literally glows. Mumbai Mirror has learnt that a handful of people, who admire Shahid, have bought what most heroines in Hindi cinema have been yearning for over the years.
A friend of the actor told Mumbai Mirror, "Shahid celebrated his birthday in Goa with a bunch of friends. When he returned to his Andheri residence, he was surprised to see this unique gift waiting for him. A bunch of fans had bought a star for him and named it Shahid. The official letter from the company and a certificate claiming that the star is now named Shahid was delivered."
Prior to this, a lunar crater in the moon's 'sea of tranquility' was christened after Shah Rukh Khan in 2010.
The star now named after Shahid is located in the Orion constellation. "The star was booked by his fans through the official website starfoundation.net. Shahid was overwhelmed by this gesture. He wears a bracelet that his fans had earlier given him," added the friend.
Though Shahid Kapoor remained unavailable for comment, his spokesperson confirmed the story and sent us a copy of the star certificate issued by the foundation.

Shahid Kapoor upset with organisers for leaving his name out from the promotions of an upcoming world tour, quits the event altogether

Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor are said to be the next BFFs of Bollywood. In fact, Shahid was reportedly happy to join Ranbir in his world tour organised by The Morani Brothers, However, the truth is far from it. Mumbai Mirror has learnt that Shahid is not keen on joining the global event especially since it’s being promoted as Ranbir’s official world tour. In fact, Shahid, who wants to be projected on an equal platform with Ranbir, has made it clear to the organisers that he won’t be available for the tour.
Shahid’s spokesperson confirmed and said, “Shahid is definitely not going to be a part of the world tour this year. He will be concentrating on his film assignments.”
The story however, runs deeper. According to a source close to Shahid, the actor was not too happy being just an add-on in what was being called the Ranbir Kapoor world tour. “He was extremely upset with the constant speculations about him joining Ranbir in the concert. The talks were still on. And Shahid’s representatives made it very clear that if they wanted the actor to be a part of it, the show has to be promoted as Shahid and Ranbir’s world tour. Shahid also has a big fan following overseas. When two stars are equal, it can’t be just one person’s show,” added the source.
But when the media reports did not stop, Shahid had to call the Morani Brothers and inform them about his inability to join the tour. “He also told them that if they want him to be a part of the show, it has to be promoted as his show as well,” said the source.
According to the source, Shahid has told the organisers that he would be available for the show next year in April, provided his conditions are met. “Shahid holds Ranbir in very high regards but is clear on what he wants from this tour,” added the source.
Needless to say, Shahid doesn’t want to mix his personal relationships with the professional ones.

Just last month, Shahid Kapoor celebrated his birthday in great style over a four-day weekend at Goa's sun-kissed Morjim beach. What's more, while most of his guests flew down for the big party much later, he left earlier, accompanied by a certain Nargis Fakhri. Ever since, there has been widespread speculation as to whether they are the newest love birds in Bollywood.
Rumours apart, Mumbai Mirror can now tell you that it's official — Shahid and Nargis are indeed a couple; the latest to hit tinsel town.
"Nargis is Shahid's latest love. Since the past few days, the two are spending a lot of quality time with each other. So far, they have avoided being seen together. Perhaps they wanted to keep the whole thing under wraps for some more time," revealed a source close to the twosome.
When did the 'good friends' become more than just that? Said the source, "Nargis spent a lot of time with Shahid in Goa. They were attracted to each other then and their friendship grew after returning to Mumbai. However, they started dating only recently."
How serious is their relationship, considering Shahid has been linked to a bevy of B-town beauties including Anushka Sharma and Bipasha Basu ever since his break up with Priyanka Chopra last year? "Well, he is quite serious about Nargis and likes her company," the source said.
Meanwhile, Nargis too has been earlier linked to the likes of Ranbir Kapoor and Shayan Munshi although according to the source, she is hardly in contact with either of them now.
We tried to get in touch with Shahid and Nargis but both remained unavailable for comment.

Shahid Kapoor has had his share of female admirers, but there is a certain fan who has left him rather disturbed.
She has been accosting him at odd hours, claiming to be his wife and even dodging security to ring his doorbell in the wee hours of the morning. Shahid, so far has been trying to deal with it cautiously, since the woman happens to be the daughter of an iconic yesteryear actor. But this newspaper refrains from revealing her identity.
The latest in the string of incidents, was on Wednesday, at around 3 am. According to eye-witnesses, the woman, who lives in the adjacent high-rise, scaled the boundary wall, managed to dodge the security and ran up to Shahid’s apartment on the 13th floor of Raheja Classique, and began pounding on his door. As soon as the actor realised who she was, he called up the security, and four of them rushed upstairs and escorted the woman away.
Mirror has learnt that the woman, in her early 30s, has had a troubled life. According to some of distant relatives, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, she could never quite recover from the twin blows of her father’s death and professional disappointments. “In fact, a few years ago, she made her debut in a B-grade flick, where her role was drastically reduced. It was a huge blow for her,” said the family member.
Her obsession with Shahid is about six-months old, say her relatives. A reason why she even shifted home to be closer to her favourite star, who she claims is her spouse.
According to Shahid’s friends, he has had to face several awkward moments in the recent past when she suddenly “popped up near the gate and blocked his path.” There have also been reports of her waiting near his car and making several desperate attempts to go up to his apartment and meet him.
“Shahid, who is aware of her background, has been sensitive enough to ignore these incidents so far, but Wednesday night was a little serious and he has decided to highlight this as a security breach with his society,” added the actor’s friend. In the absence of any responsible family member who can perhaps handle her delicate situation, Shahid has not had an opportunity to discuss the problem with anyone close to her.
Shahid remained unavailable for comment.

Shahid Kapoor, who will be next seen in Kunal Kohli's love saga 'Teri Meri Kahani' has been linked to numerous Bollywood actresses including his co-star Priyanka Chopra, after his break-up with Kareena Kapoor.
But the actor feels that it is difficult to find a love story in real life. "Obviously I believe in love and have faith in it. I think love is the most beautiful thing in the world..it makes the world go round. I think everybody is eventually looking for love..but it is difficult to find one complete love story in real," Shahid told reporters.
"Through this film may be this is our way of escaping from reality and trying to show three different love stories and believing in romance. I think the most exciting thing in this movie is that there are three different love stories in it spread across three different generations. It is exciting to see how the journey of two lovers unfolds in three time spans - 1910, 1960 and 2012," he said.
The 31-year-old star was dating Kareena when they started filming for Ken Ghosh's 2004 film Fida. They were going steady until they separated during the making of Jab We Met in 2007.
Another strong buzz was about his alleged relationship with Priyanka Chopra. They met on the sets of Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey and had hit it off instantly. Their sizzling chemistry on reel was quite opposite to their on-an-off relationship, which seemed volatile.
Shahid was also linked to Vidya Balan during Kismet Connection. Whether this hook-up was for real or just a gimmick is not yet known. This was followed by alleged affairs with tennis sensation Sania MirzaBipasha Basu, Anushka Sharma and the latest being Nargis Fakhri of Rockstar fame.
The only relationship that Shahid was quite open about was with Kareena.

| 'Teri Meri Kahani' has no similarity with 'Three Times': Kunal Kohli

Director Kunal Kohli has dismissed comparisons between his Shahid Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra starrer 'Teri Meri Kahani' and Taiwanese film 'Three Times'.
Both Shahid and Priyanka are seen in three different avatars over three time spans -- 1910, 1960 and 2012 -- in the film, akin to 'Three Times' which features three separate love stories chronologically set in 1911, 1966 and 2005, with the same lead actors, Shu Qi and Chang Chen. The 2005 film was a hit and won several awards.
However, Kunal Kohli says his film is different.
"I have not seen the film ('Three Times') to begin with but someone told me about it while I was making the film and I happened to read about it. But I would still say our film is completely different. It is just a coincidence," he told reporters here last evening, after unveiling the first look.
"There is no similarity between the two films. Now-a-days if you want to remake a film, you just buy the rights and make the film. So if I wanted to make 'Three Times' I would have bought the rights," he said.
Citing an example, Kohli said, "Like when I made 'Hum Tum' there was a film called 'Before Sunset' that came six months after, and it had the exact opening like my film...where the guy has lost his love and he has released a book and the film starts with the press conference and he talks about the love he has lost and that is how exactly 'Before Sunset' also started."
As for the first look trailer, there were few sections which in a way seemed similar to Shahid's last film, 'Mausam', where the hero happens to meet the leading lady, Sonam Kapoor in three different situations. But Kohli says that every love story in a way has the basic element of love, meeting and parting ways.
"To meet and part ways is there in every love story, be it 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Fanna', 'Hum Tum' or 'Veer Zaara'. Whatever popular love story you take..a love story is all about meeting and parting. But how they meet, how they part ways is different in every love story and even in this story, it is different," he said.
The film is up for release on June 22.

Kunal Kohli's Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra starrer Teri Meri Kahaani has a striking similarity to the plot of a 2005 Taiwanese film Three Times. Both the Hou Hsiao-Hsien directed project and Kohli's film, are set over three time frames where the hero and the heroine find love in different circumstances. While the Palme d'Or nominated film is set in 1911, 1966 and 2005, the Shahid starrer navigates 1910, 1960 India and 2012 London.
However, when we asked the director whether he was inspired by Hsien's film, he vehemently denied it saying, “It's a totally different film. I haven't seen Three Times. I read about it once. While making Teri Meri Kahaani, someone mentioned it to me, so I checked the title on IMDB. A co-incidence in the theme doesn't make it similar. Today, you cannot get away with copying a film. If I wanted it, I'd buy the rights. But this has nothing to do with Three Times.” But after so many queries, Kohli finally said, “I think I should see this film after all.”

Mirror has learnt that the woman, in her early 30s, has had a troubled life. According to some of distant relatives, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, she could never quite recover from the twin blows of her father’s death and professional disappointments. “In fact, a few years ago, she made her debut in a B-grade flick, where her role was drastically reduced. It was a huge blow for her,” said the family member.
Her obsession with Shahid is about six-months old, say her relatives. A reason why she even shifted home to be closer to her favourite star, who she claims is her spouse.
According to Shahid’s friends, he has had to face several awkward moments in the recent past when she suddenly “popped up near the gate and blocked his path.” There have also been reports of her waiting near his car and making several desperate attempts to go up to his apartment and meet him.
“Shahid, who is aware of her background, has been sensitive enough to ignore these incidents so far, but Wednesday night was a little serious and he has decided to highlight this as a security breach with his society,” added the actor’s friend. In the absence of any responsible family member who can perhaps handle her delicate situation, Shahid has not had an opportunity to discuss the problem with anyone close to her.
Shahid remained unavailable for comment.

| Fed up of stalker who claims to be his wife, Shahid files complaint

After about a year of unwanted attention from Vastavikta Raj Kumar - daughter of Bollywood legend late Raj Kumar - Shahid Kapoor has submitted a written police complaint at the Versova Police Station, accusing her of stalking him.
On the behalf of the Jab We Met actor, his manager submitted the complaint accusing the actress of harassing Kapoor.
According to the complaint, the trouble started nine months ago when Vastavikta, who made her Bollywood debut in the supernatural thriller Eight, moved next to the actor’s apartment building, Raj Classique, on Yari Road.
Vastavikta claims to be Shahid Kapoor’s wife and has allegedly been following him to his shoots and waiting for the actor at the gate of his building.
Sources close to her family said that she fell in love with the Kaminey actor when she first met him at Shiamak Davar’s dance classes a few years ago. She believes that she is married to him.
A family friend told Mumbai Mirror that her mother had even written an apology note to Shahid for Vastavikta’s behaviour. After shifting into a house close to Shahid’s apartment, she barred her family to interfere in her personal life or even come to her apartment, saying that her husband Shahid does not like it.
A close friend of Shahid said that Vastavikta would wait for the actor outside his building’s gate, block his car’s path and even follow him when he went for a shoot.
But the matter came to a head last week when she scaled the society’s wall and dodged the security guards to reach the actor’s apartment on the 13th floor.
“Shahid did not want to file the complaint but he had no choice as it had gone on for too long,” the friend said.
While Shahid was not available for comment, one of Vastavikta’s family members said that she was not mad, but was crazy about the actor.
Vastavikta has a degree in Arts from S.I.T Manhattan, New York. She has attended workshops with Satyadev Dubey and Shernaz Patel. She also learnt jazz under Shiamak Davar.
Senior police inspector Nankumar Mhetar of Versova Police Station said, “We have filed a non-cognisable complaint after a letter from Shahid Kapoor submitted by his manager. We have called the girl, but she was not at home.”
