Mausam starring Shahid Kapoor will have to fight it out at the box office with Rockstar and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan
Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan have set up a triple date with each other at the movies on September 9th. The three young actors will clash at the box office with Mausam, Rockstar and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan respectively.
While Rockstar and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan are releasing as per schedule it’s Mausam that has postponed its release. Producer Sheetal Talwar is unperturbed by the stiff competition (no pun intended) Shahid will face at the box office. She said in an interview,’ I am sure all three films are good. We find September 9 as the right date to release Mausam. Now let the best man and the best film win.’
However film trade analyst is not so kicked about the second Friday of September warning production houses of heavy losses. ‘Even a Diwali weekend is not enough to accommodated three releases. And a non festive weekend by no means will be enough for three such big films which clashes three teen heartthrobs. The business of each film could get affected by almost 40 per cent,’ Taran said.
Mausam was originally set to release on 22nd July

Let's put an end to the Shahid Priyanka saga right here, right now. We've got news. And for those who came in late, here's the gist: The Sasha–PC blow hot, blow cold relationship has supposedly reached its end.
A famous male designer, who socialises in the same circle as Sasha, revealed a little secret about him on zoOm. He said that Shahid has been spotted with a new girl at various events and parties, and that they're going to make a formal announcement soon. Meanwhile, Shahid is busy shooting with Priyanka for Janam Janam Ka Saath Hai Humara Tumhara (ironical, eh?).

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Part 2 just got bigger. After casting Akshay Kumar as Dawood, the older version of Emraan Hashmi's character in the first part, producer Ekta Kapoor and director Milan Luthria met up with Shahid Kapoor and asked him to play Chhota Rajan, Dawood's best man turned rival in the film.
The film, that goes on floors early next year, was launched amidst much fanfare at an award function during Diwali last year. A rough image of Akshay Kumar's look in the film was also unveiled during the event. However, the hunt for the other leading men and women for the film was still on.
While there were speculations about the choice of actress to play the role of Dawood's girl Mandakini in the film, nothing so far had been said about the other male lead. "The role of Chhota Rajan is as intense as the one Shahid Kapoor portrayed in Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey. He is a very good actor who has portrayed a wide range of characters till date. He is one of the top choices to play Chhota Rajan," revealed a source.
Akshay will pick up from where Emraan Hashmi left off in the first part. He will take his character forward. Shahid will be the new entrant in the story. "Where there's Dawood, there has to be his arch-rival Chhota Rajan. Shahid has been asked to play a very long and key role in the film," added the source.
However, Ekta's attempt at pulling off a casting coup for the project may face a few hitches. Kareena is said to be one of the leading contenders for the role of Dawood's lover Mandakini, one might wonder whether the actress or Shahid would want to work together again, considering the two did not even want to dub for their film Milenge Milenge together. But then again, Kareena reportedly, has no problem working with Shahid anymore.
Our source said, "Milan had long meetings with Shahid. He explained him the script and the character. Akshay is currently working out to get the rugged look required for him to play Dawood. Shahid too will require to work on his Chhota Rajan avatar."

After finishing his shooting for "Mausam', Shahid Kapoor is up and running as he has already started the shooting of another movie.
The actor is shooting in none other than the great poet, Shakespeare, birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon. He tweeted on Thursday, "Shooting away in Shakespeare's birth place stradford upon avon..some lines of the master that I love." Ad it doesn't end here as later he even tweeted lines of poetry.
"Love is merely a madness", "Love Comforteth Like Sunshine after rain", "Better a witty fool Than a foolish wit", "This above all- to thine own self..Be true." Well, guess it's the after effect of shooting a love story.

Starting with Mausam, how did you prepare for your role?
There are two major parts to my character in the film - the air force part, which is evident from the trailers and the Punjabi part.
Go on...
The Punjabi part required me to play the 18-year-old Harinder Singh. He doesn't do much in life and falls in love with a girl. I had to understand the background and culture of the rural boy. It was tough, since it's very different from the way I have been brought up. Dad helped me understand Harinder. Perhaps, he was Harinder himself in his youth. I am sure he must have fallen in love with one of his neighbours in his youth.
And what about the air force part?
Playing an air force officer required a lot of preparation. We did not want to go wrong even with the smallest details. Even the moustache that I sport in Mausam, was designed after studying and consulting air force officials. If you notice, I have really short hair in the film. This is because in the air force, they are very particular about one's hairstyle. And looking like a man in uniform was just a part of it.
You also had to fly an aircraft. Was it easy to qualify as a pilot?
There were a series of tests - blood, hearing, eyesight, cardio-vascular, fat content, cholesterol and so on and so forth. Thankfully, I qualified. I felt quite cool after that.
Mausam had been in the making for a very long time...
It was a very demanding script. Dad told me that from the very beginning. I had to get everything right for the pilot's role - the body language, the voice modulation and so many other things.
Is your father a tough taskmaster?
Those who don't know my dad, will get intimidated by him. But he is really a very cool guy. We have grown closer during the making of Mausam. He pushed me, yes. But since he is my father, he had that liberty. He must've felt 'kya bolega Shahid, baap toh main hoon'.
Mausam is your only release this year, as opposed to three in 2010. Is slowing down a conscious decision?
I ideally would like to do three films every year. Everyday I pray for it. But I should like a script before I sign on a film.
So you have liked the role of Chhota Rajan...
Ekta has offered me a role in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Part 2. I am going through the script right now.
You have not really spoken about your personal life lately. Are you enjoying your single status?
I am. I enjoy every status in my life. Change is the only constant yaar.
You are working with Priyanka Chopra in Kunal Kohli's film. How is your equation with her now?
It's wonderful. She is a lovely girl. I have always enjoyed working with her. We have a lot to do together in Kunal Kohli's film.
On a personal level, will you and Priyanka get back together?
It's a hypothetical question. Do you know whether you'll be fine tomorrow? Nobody knows about the future. I live in the present. And I am enjoying my current state to the fullest.
What about Kareena? Will you consider working with her again?
My decision is not based on what she thinks. We are both professionals. If I get a good script, why won't I do it?
In a recent interview, she hinted that you were not loyal to her. She said that she has experienced infidelity in her past.
I don't feel the need to respond to a quote, which hypothetically hints at me. I do not like speaking about someone with whom I have shared a very positive equation in the past.
You have kissed your four leading ladies Priyanka, Kareena, Anushka and Sonam. Which lip lock according to you was the hottest?
I have kissed all four on screen. However, I am very uncomfortable shooting for a kissing scene, since there are a lot of people watching you on the sets. So, my hottest kiss is reserved for the one I shall marry.

After giving her father a hard time about his dressing, it looks like Sonam Kapoor has found another fashion victim she feels needs saving.
Sonam, who recently wrapped up shooting for Mausam with Shahid, has advised her co-star to change his stylist. Reportedly, the fashionista does not approve of Sasha's dressing sense. And so, Shahid has decided to hire Sonam's friend Kunal Rawal.
A source informed, “Shahid and Sonam have got along very well. Shahid has been teasing Sonam, calling her a 'fashionista'. She took her title very seriously and has been pulling Shahid's legs over his casual clothing.
That's when she suggested that Shahid should have a new designer. Sonam introduced him to Kunal Rawal, who is a close friend. Rawal will now design the clothes for the actor in Kunal Kohli's yet untitled film.”

IAF refuses to clear shahid’s filmi dog fight
Demands changes in a fight sequence in the film’s second half. Holds back No Objection Certificate with just a week to go for the release

Shahid Kapoor-starrer Mausam has run into rough weather with the Indian Air Force (IAF) barely a week before its September 16 release.
The IAF is unhappy with an action sequence involving six fighter planes, one of them commandeered by Shahid, in the second half of the film.
Air force has held back its No Objection Certificate (NOC) until the producers make the changes they have sought. However, producer Sheetal Talwar said this would not be possible at this late hour because it would require a reshoot and also affect the plot.
Unless the IAF grants this film an NOC, the Censor Board will not accept it for review.
Mausam was scheduled for screening before the board on Wednesday but the review was called off in the absence of the IAF’s NOC.
Talwar is flying to Delhi today to hold discussions with the IAF top brass all over again. “I will give them my perspective and the reasons why this alteration is impossible for us to carry out when the release date is upon us.”
While the IAF refused to discuss the details of their objection, spokesperson Wing Commander Gerard Galway said the change they sought was minor.
"We have objected to only about 30 seconds of the film. Pankaj Kapoor has otherwise done a wonderful job of portraying an IAF officer and the entire movie is authentic."
Wing commander Galway said they had a healthy discussion with the director and producer over the objectionable part. "They were very gracious and agreed to do something about it. Once the scene is rectified, the NOC will be granted."
While Talwar refused to confirm if the change IAF sought would require a reshoot, he said it would not be easy. "We have told them we can't change anything now since it was approved by them at the script stage last year. Their objection reached us on Wednesday. We sent our reply to the IAF today."
Debutante director Pankaj Kapur said, "As far as I know, we are in the clear. We made this film in full consultation with the IAF. I am not aware of their objection. Sheetal Talwar will be the right man to comment on this."
This is not the first time a film has run into trouble with the defence forces.
The Indian army had objected to Amitabh Bachchan's beard in Major Saab.
In Hrithik Roshan-starrer Lakshya, in which the Kargil war was the backdrop, the army had objected to the reference to Bofors guns in the film.
A source said the film, portions of which were shot in the Gwalior IAF base, would need a go-ahead from the IAF. The film has been in the works for the past two years.

Putting the past behind, the actors have decided to join hands for Anand’s new film

Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan had pleaded with Karan Johar several times, be it at the filmmaker's chat show on television or an awards function, to cast them together in Dostana 2. Well, that sure did not work out.
The rumours about the two good friends uniting for a film otherwise also died down. Looks like what Imran couldn't achieve, Shahid Kapoor has. Ranbir and Shahid are all set to come together in Siddharth Anand's next project.
A source informed Mumbai Mirror, “Ranbir Kapoor and Siddharth Anand go back a long way. Their fathers were close friends. Ranbir acted in two of Siddharth's films Bachna Ae Haseeno and Anjaana Anjaani. After the not so successful run of the latter, the two friends drifted apart.”
All that is in the past now. “Ranbir and Siddharth are all set to work together. That too in a double hero film. It will be Ranbir and Shahid as the two male leads,” added the source.
While Ranbir and Siddharth have grown up together, Shahid, it seems has recently grown close to the Rockstar actor. Ranbir, who was never really close to Shahid extended the olive branch by appreciating the promos of the latter actor's forthcoming film, Mausam.
Said the source, “Shahid was pleasantly surprised to hear praises about the Mausam trailer from Ranbir. Ranbir and Shahid had hardly ever exchanged pleasantries at social events or functions.” And after this, Shahid was the first one to congratulate Ranbir on the first look trailer of Rockstar.
The two actors, who have bonded ever since have now decided to star together in Siddharth Anand's next. While Anand decided not to divulge any details, a source close to both Shahid and Ranbir confirmed, “Yes, Siddharth is putting a project together starring Ranbir and Shahid in the lead.”

Earning ceetees and taalis at the box office is an easy affair now. Ripping shirts, bulging biceps and baddies being tossed in the air seem to do the trick.
And in time of action-packed, masala entertainers, comes Mausam, an epic love story, spread over 10 years. So when Sonam was at the zoOm studio to promote the film, we asked her about this tried-and-tested formula. She said, "Mausam can't be compared with a Bodyguard or a Singham. They're essentially masala entertainers. Every age-group can watch and enjoy them.
They are light-hearted films. Of course, Shahid is the muscle-man in my film. He's gone shirtless; he's donned a uniform like Sallu and Ajay. So we have all that!" Well Sonam, seeing as the film's facing some bad 'weather' these days, we hope Shahid's shirtlessness may just have to do the trick.

| 'Mausam' now releasing on Sep 23

Much-talked about film " Mausam", which was scheduled for a Friday release, will now hit the screens across the globe Sep 23. The decision has been taken to avoid fragmented release, said Shahid Kapoor, who plays the lead role in the film.
"We are here to announce the changed release date of our film from Sep 16 to Sep 23. The reason for this is that we had applied for two permisions - a NOC (no objection certificate) from the IAF (Indian Air Force) and certification from the censor board. We got U-certificate from the censor board, but IAF gave us a conditional certificate because they wanted a 30-second scene from a particular sequence to be corrected," Shahid told reporters here Wednesday.
"They wanted a tiny little detail changed. Because the scene required computer graphics, even a small change requires a lot of time. That is why it took us so many days to make the correction. We got the NOC last (Tuesday) night," added the actor.
"Mausam", a romantic film, is Shahid's father Pankaj Kapoor's directorial debut and in the film Shahid plays a fighter pilot and is seen "flying" a fighter.
"Today we are ready for India release on Sep 16, but we wanted the overseas release to fall on the same date. However, when we send the prints overseas, there is a particular time before which we have to send the prints. Because we got the NOC last night, we couldn't send the overseas prints. We want the release to happen globally on the same day, so we have changed the release date to Sep 23. We don't want a fragmented release...," said Shahid.
The romantic saga will see Shahid falling in love with a Kashmiri girl, played by Sonam Kapoor.

It wasn't easy explaining romantic scenes to Shahid: Pankaj Kapur
I have very fond memories of Shahid when he was a baby. He always had something philosophical to say. I remember one thing he said when he was four. He was holding my finger while walking, and said, "Baba, main aapse utna pyaar karta hoon jitna khuda apne bandon se karta hai." It spoke volumes about how he felt. Yes, there were years when we saw less of each other, but the bond was never weak, and it became stronger in the last few years. We spent two years while making " Mausam" and our relationship has matured. I discovered a friend in him. Shahid shares all his problems with me, not just concerning his girlfriends, which, I agree, are the biggest! But it wasn't easy for me to explain the romantic scenes to him. I'm not a strict father as believed, but I'm a strict director. But here I had an actor who said, 'I'm at your disposal.' It was wonderful to hear that. Shahid has been so much more, which is difficult to explain.

In the 80s and 90s, we didn't have so many low-cost airlines, and for dad to fly down from Delhi was a big thing, as we belonged to a middle-class family. But dad and my relationship has grown with each year. There were times when I missed him and I guess god's helping me make up for all that now. It's surprising that even though we didn't stay together for the first few years of my life, I've discovered that I'm a lot like him. It makes me very happy, though it gets him worried! Dad is my closest friend today. Whenever there's a problem, he's one of the first people I call up. Since we can talk as equals and share a great equation, we were able to do this film together. Otherwise, it can be very difficult for father and son to get into the professional space. He allows me to say what I feel. And that gave us "Mausam".

Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor starrer Mausam hit the theatres on September 23. The project remained in the news for weeks before it’s much publicised release. And now, less than a week after its release, the film is back in news. And this time, for all the wrong reasons.
A trade magazine published on Sunday September 25, 2011 had its pages filled with adverts praising Shahid’s performance and Pankaj Kapur’s brilliance in the recent release. Surprisingly, some of the personalities quoted in those very commercials were not even aware that their names had been used. What’s more, even Shahid Kapoor, the lead actor did not know about the publicity campaign.
A friend of the actor told Mumbai Mirror, “Shahid is flabbergasted. He cannot believe that such a thing has been carried out without even keeping him in the loop. Agar usko thoda sa bhi pata hota, toh use permission definitely nahin diya hota.”
The official spokesperson of the actor added, “Shahid is not aware of these ads. He has been busy with post overseas productions. The producers of Mausam must have put these ads out.”
A source informed us, “At least three prominent personalities who have been quoted in the advert were not informed about it. Some of them learnt about it only on Tuesday, when their friends from the industry called them up. Obviously it was a publicity exercise undertaken by the makers of the film.”
The three people unaware about their names being used to publicise Pankaj Kapur’s maiden directorial venture, happen to be Ken Ghosh, Parmeet Sethi and Nikhil Advani.
When contacted, Ken cleared his stance and said, “I don’t know why they’ve used my name to endorse Mausam and Shahid’s performance in it. I haven’t even seen the film. I wish to clarify that I have not endorsed the ad.”
Parmeet Sethi, who had directed Shahid in Badmaash Company, too was taken aback with the surprise advert in the trade magazine. The actor-turned-filmmaker said, “Someone has played mischief. If I had to do such an exercise, I would have rather done it with more style and élan in leading newspapers and not in some trade magazine.”
A friend of Nikhil Advani, the third person who was unaware of the publicity exercise undertaken by Mausam makers, informed, “Nikhil has been trying to figure out how his name was used without his consent and knowledge. He has still not got any answers.”
The co-producer of the film Madhu Mantena, seemed to be the only person aware of the adverts in the magazine. When contacted, Mantena said, “Yes, we did include Nikhil Advani, Ken Ghosh and Parmeet Sethi’s names. They are friends. We wanted to congratulate Shahid on his excellent performance, Such things are a norm in the industry.”

The actor has been cast as the male lead in Fox Studios’ official remake of Knight And Day

Sporting the Tom Cruise Top Gun look in his father’s directorial debut Mausam may not have won the film good reviews, but has certainly helped Shahid Kapoor bag the biggest project of his career.
In the official Hindi remake of Cruise’s 2010 romantic action comedy Knight And Day, Fox Studios has decided to cast the young actor. The film that is ready to go on floors next year will be directed by Siddharth Anand.
Knight And Day, directed by James Mangold follows the adventures of a spy on the run played by Tom Cruise and a car restorer June Havens played by Cameron Diaz. Explaining why Fox Star, the original producers of the film decided to cast Shahid in the lead role, a source told Mumbai Mirror, “Fox Studios feels that Shahid has immense potential to carry out Tom Cruise’s histrionics convincingly. They find him to be an actor who can portray a gamut of emotions if and when required.”
According to the source, Shahid, who suffered a setback after his last film failed to generate the expected response at the box office gave his nod of approval for this project immediately. “Also, Shahid is very close to Anand. They share a very good equation. They have worked on some television commercials together,” added the source.
Though Cruise’s shoes have been filled, Cameron Diaz’s place yes yet up for grabs. “The leading lady is yet to be finalised. The official announcement is on its way. They will announce it soon enough as they want to go on floors next year,” said the source.
Earlier, it was reported that Shahid would work with Anand in a Tips film that would be based on Knight And Day. However, considering the original producers have cast the actor in the official Hindi remake of the same film, this no longer holds true. Our source explained, “Yes, the Tips project is on track.
However, it is not along the lines of Knight and Day. Moreover, a lot of things about that film have to be still worked out.”

Shahid Kapoor is faced with perhaps the most difficult choice in his life. The actor has to choose between his daddy and his dream role. Shahid, who has been asked to share screen space with his father Pankaj Kapur in a film to be directed by Bhavna Talwar, has also been offered the lead role alongside Amitabh Bachchan in Prakash Jha's Satyagrah.
A source informed Mumbai Mirror, "Satyagrah is the story of a student and his mentor. And Prakash is keen on casting Shahid and Mr Bachchan in the two principal roles. It is a dream role, which under normal circumstances, Shahid would have been really happy to be a part of. But this will clash with Bhavna Talwar's film where he will get to star with his father Pankaj Kapur. Shahid will now have to choose between the two."
Earlier, reportedly when Shahid had to choose between his mother Neelima Azim's directorial venture and father Pankaj Kapur's Mausam, Shahid had opted for the latter.
However, the actor has never worked with his father on screen. Neither has the actor got the opportunity to share screen space with the Big B. Needless to say, the choice is tough for Shahid this time around. With Prakash Jha's last success with Amitabh Bachchan in Aarakshan, Satyagrah might be the best career option for Shahid after the not-so-successful Mausam, claimed sources.
Both Prakash Jha and Bhavna Talwar remained unavailable for comment.

| Shahid Kapoor shoots ad with Priyanka Chopra

Shahid Kapoor, who is here after his Spanish vacation, is trying to complete his ad shoots before he finalises new film projects. In one of the commercials, he has teamed up with Priyanka Chopra.
He shot two ads Wednesday in Madh Island on two adjacent sets – one for a paint brand and the other for a coffee brand, the latter with Priyanka which required them to splash water on one another in a garden.
We asked Shahid about his double-ad shoot and he said: “It was just another working day. What’s there to say?”
Shahid and Priyanka are also shooting for Kunal Kohli’s untitled film together and while shooting the ad both the actors tried to keep as much cordiality as possible. But apparently the duo simply refused to give joint bytes to the waiting television journalists who had gathered at the venue of the ad-shoot.
This refusal was most surprising in the light of the fact that media-persons had been invited to cover the shooting as a Shahid-Priyanka event.
Interestingly, director Ayaan Mukerjee, close friend of Shahid’s, was also present at the venue to shoot another ad with Shahid.
“Shahid wouldn’t budge from his no-joint-bytes stance, and Priyanka agreed with him. They both felt that at this point in their working relationship, the last thing they needed was televised togetherness,” said a source.
