| Salman Khan supports Saif, says media was biased

Salman Khan, who is back here after the shooting of " Ek Tha Tiger" in Cuba, came out in support of his fellow actor Saif Ali Khan, saying that media should have waited for his version and dug out the facts before running what was carried on television.
"Even the press was all for the other guy. They didn't even bother to ask what happened to Saif. Did Saif got wacked first or not? We should have waited for Saif to come out and say what he had to say," Salman told reporters after he was aksed to comment on the incident.
"We are actors and we have been in the industry for the longest time. Saif has been in the industry for 18 years. We knew the guy," added the actor.
Saif was involved in a scuffle early at Wasabi, the Japanese restaurant at Taj Mahal Palace with South Africa-based Indian businessman Iqbal Sharma. The latter alleged that Saif abused and assaulted him and his father-in-law and filed a complained at the Colaba police station, the actor said he was provoked to do so.
Following Sharma's complain the 41-year-old actor was arrested with two others -- Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi.
Police detained the trio at the Marine Drive police station and later brought them to the Colaba police station. The interrogation of the trio lasted an hour. Later, the actor and his two friends were freed on personal bonds of Rs.3,000 each.
According to Sharma, Saif called him an "idiot" for complaining about the actor's loud conduct at the restaurant. He said he and his family had requested the restaurant manager to ask Saif and his friends, which included Kareena, Amrita Arora and Malaika Arora Khan, to keep their voices down.
Salman said: "If you have gone into a restaurant, you are not there to manao matam (mourn). You are there to have dinner and drinks. My family was there, everybody was there. I am sure he (Sharma) might be right, but my point is that find out the entire thing and then come on TV."
The actor, who himself has been involved in hit and run case, and scuffles, says the blame always comes on actors.

The first film made John Abraham one of the most sought after anti-heroes of recent times. The second, made us want to fall in love with the hunky thief Hrithik Roshan. And now, the third, promises to make Aamir Khan the new bad man in Bollywood.
YRF's most popular franchise Dhoom, has become bigger with every part. And if you thought after Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif, it couldn't get any bigger, think again. Mumbai Mirror has learnt that Aditya Chopra has already chalked out plans for Dhoom 4 and Dhoom 5. And 'surprising' is too mild a word to describe Adi Chopra's big plans.
This newspaper has learnt that Adi, who plans to wrap up the franchise with the fifth part, has already decided to cast Salman Khan in the fourth part and none other than his good friend and YRF favourite Shah Rukh Khan in the fifth. However, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will continue to play their respective roles of Inspector Jai Dixit and Ali. Vijay Krishna Acharya will be working on the script for both the parts.
A source from the trade told Mumbai Mirror, “Salman Khan wanted to work in a stylish action film. And Adi had discussed the possibility of Dhoom 4 with him. Salman had agreed. That's how they ended up working on Ek Tha Tiger. The script of Dhoom 4 is already locked. The final draft is in process.”
However, work on the fifth part that will star SRK is still to begin. “Adi has his hands full with Yash Chopra's directorial at the moment. Adi wants to end the Dhoom franchise with its fifth part. The plans for the last two parts are currently being kept under wraps,” added our source.
When contacted, the official spokesperson of Yash Raj Films rubbished such reports.

While most Bollywood A-listers are completely sold on South remakes, Salman Khan does not believe in the herd syndrome. Probably, Khan had enough of South replicas after his 2011 blockbusters Ready and Bodyguard. When approached for the remake of another South flick Arya 2 by UTV, Khan categorically said 'No.'
An industry-insider told Mumbai Mirror, "UTV wanted Salman. They even held a screening of Arya 2 for him. But, later, Salman declined the offer."
Trade circles were buzzing about Khan's involvement in this UTV project for the last couple of months. However, the insider added, "It's definitely true that Salman won't star in Arya 2. Nobody is aware of his reason for refusing the film."
Arya 2 is a 2009 Telugu romantic sequel to the 2004 superhit Arya, starring Allu Arjun. Arya 2 saw Allu Arjun paired with Kajal Aggarwal of Singham fame. Director Sukumar was the captain of both the ships.
After all, this is not the first time that Khan has said no to a South Indian remake. Earlier, he refused Mahesh Babu's Hindi remake of Dookudu. Apparently, Khan wasn't keen on playing a cop for the sixth time in Dookudu.

The actor, who underwent a surgery for trigeminal neuralgia, has been complaining of a knot in his jaw lately

August 2011, while many of his fans prayed for his good health, Salman Khan flew out to the United States of America to undergo treatment for Trigeminal Neuralgia, a nervous disorder the actor had been detected with.
After a five-hour-long surgery that involved removing blockages inside his mouth using coils and a few weeks of recuperation, the actor had come back home to start work on his YRF project. And while shooting for the Kabir Khan film in Cuba last month, Salman started experiencing pain again. According to a source from the film unit, “Salman is feeling a knot in his jaw.”
Last year, when Salman had to eventually go for treatment overseas, he had been experiencing acute pain in his jaw. In fact, he wasn’t being able to eat properly. A return of the pain, though in a much lesser intensity is therefore a point of worry for the actor.
While one may suspect that the strenuous stunts involved in the film might have triggered Salman’s condition again, the source from the unit said that Salman never showed any sign of discomfort while he was shooting.
Describing Salman’s attitude towards the condition, a close friend of the actor told Mumbai Mirror, “Salman is on medication for the same. But he doesn’t worry about it much. People suffer from all kinds of conditions - blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol. This too a physical condition. This doesn’t mean that it will deter Salman from living his life to the fullest.
Salman started experiencing this health problem about seven years back. The nagging pain however, vanished completely in a couple of years only to reappear in June last year.
Despite repeated attempts of getting in touch, Salman remained unavailable.

Trigeminal Neuralgia is curable. It can resurface after a surgery but that depends on how the surgery was done. If it is done well, 90-96 per cent cases do not experience a recurrence.

If one undergoes a brain operation to treat Trigeminal Neuralgia, the chances of recurrence are 10 per cent. But the latest and safer procedure is to treat it with Radio Frequency Coagulation, where the chances of recurrence are 15 per cent. If the brain operation does not yield fruitful results, one has to undergo Radio Frequency Coagulation.

| Work harder when you grow older, says Salman Khan

He has kept the cash registers ringing at the box office by delivering superhit films like 'Wanted', 'Dabangg' and 'Bodyguard' year-after-year. But superstar Salman Khan feels that the more you grow older the more you need to work harder.
"There is this amazing thing in the film industry when you are younger, or in your teens...people tend to forgive all your things saying you are young. Now in this film industry the more you grow older you need to work that much harder. It is strange," Salman told reporters at an event in Mumbai where he had come to cheer physically challenged and orphaned children.
The 46-year-old actor, who is a fitness freak, says, he has to work out three times more, to match up to Gen next. "When you are younger you are more fitter..you run faster and kick faster and these things then create trouble later. Like for the younger generation of this film industry I had set a trend...but now I would suggest them to eat properly and have fun," Salman said.
"I have worked hard to make this kind of body. I feel whatever hard work I had put up that time, today these new kids are doing the same and hence I feel I need to work two-three times more," he said.
Salman had undergone a nerve surgery in the US in last August. And reportedly, the actor the pain has developed again.

| Who will play God, SRK or Sallu?

Buzz is that either Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan will portray the lead role in Akshay Kumar's home production 'Oh My God'
It's a film that was conceived more than two years ago, but looks like the heavens are yet to give it a green signal.
Akshay Kumar who was supposed to play Lord Krishna in his home production, Oh My God is still looking for someone who can replace him for the film's lead role.
And buzz is that Salman and SRK are top contenders. Says a source, "Since Akshay will be busy with other film commitments, he and Ashvini Yardi (the director) plan to approach either SRK or Salman for the role, depending on who is available."
The film is a screen adaptation of Paresh Rawal's Hindi play Krishna vs Kanhaiya and the writers now plan to tweak the role of the main protagonist who will play Krishna depending on who signs on for the part.
Adds the source, "Till Akshay was playing the role, they were sure what they wanted. But now since that has changed the director is more than willing to change the script to suit the star.
Both Salman and SRK will bring in a very different kind of personality towards the role and it only makes sense to write the dialogues accordingly."
Khan vs Khan
Director Ashwini who has worked with both the Khans when she was part of a popular GEC (General Entertainment Channel) is apparently more than confident of bringing at least one of them on board.
The source says, "Ashvini has been friends with both Salman and SRK and therefore there is every possibility that they might come on board."
However, with both their schedules it seems more of an ambiguous proposition. SRK is busy with his Yashraj film till October and then starts work on Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express.
Salman on the other hand begins shooting for Dabangg 2 next week and will be busy with his home productions post that. "Akshay too is trying to juggle his dates, in case nothing works out, but he has four back-to-back films." When contacted Ashvini Yardi said, "We are working on the cast. It's too early to comment."

Nobody can ever dare to stop a Salman Khan shoot. But FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) guy Hanumant Rao Patil is surely an exception. Patil, a self-styled king (read mafia lord), who has been going on upstaging Bollywood shoots for the past few months and tormenting filmmakers in the Hindi cinema industry, recently stopped a commercial shoot featuring the actor that was taking place at Mehboob Studios in Bandra. In fact Salman was left cooling his heels in his vanity van. And this unpleasant incident has not gone down too well with the other members of FWICE.
Mumbai Mirror learnt that five days back, Patil barged in on the sets of the Salman Khan commercial. He stopped the shoot and asked Raman Lamba, who was in charge of the production, to cough up Rs 66,000. Patil stated that he heads the 'Still photography Department' of the FWICE. Since Lamba wasn't registered with the institution, Patil asked him to pay up the required sum before continuing with the shoot.
Angry with Patil, the Vice Chairman of Allied Mazdoor Union, a part of FWICE, Prem Singh Thakur said, "Stopping Salman's shoot is just not done. The same goes for any other shoot actually. FWICE is not here to inconvenience people. We don't demand money from people. We resolve issues amicably. What Patil is doing is just not done."
He revealed that Salman's shoot was not the only production that has suffered because of Patil's antics. "He stopped a shoot in Goregaon yesterday. Two models were shooting for an ad. Patil demanded for money there as well," said an irritated Thakur.
Another senior member of the association, Dinesh Chaturvedi, General Secretary FWICE said, "We have not issued a business member card to Patil. But we had appointed him as the Head of Still Photography. But if this is the way he is going to function, we shall not issue the card to him."
When we contacted Patil, he however chose to defend his style of functioning. "Lamba was not registered with FWICE. I have done no wrong. Lamba even had to submit his passport and a few other documents to us today. A few more formalities still remain though."
Patil also denied inconveniencing Salman Khan during the shoot. However, Chaturvedi who is also doing a cameo in Salman Khan's Dabangg 2 revealed that Salman had in fact told him about the incident 'indirectly' on the sets of the film. "He said 'aapke vigilance ke log set pe chale aate hain' without naming Patil. And I understood what he meant," revealed Chaturvedi.
Keeping Salman's complaint in mind, the federation has now decided to take a step against Patil. "We have requested every producer to check the vigilance member card of any person who disrupts a shoot or asks for money claiming that they are from the federation," Chaturvedi told Mirror.
As for Patil, the federation has now decided to take strict action against him. "Patil has been harassing filmmaker for a long time. We want to sack him very soon."
Lamba chose not to get involved in the FWICE fight and said, “We are unable to comment on this. Please respect our decision.”

The moody actor, known for doing as he pleases, has sacked Senthil, the DOP of Dabangg 2 within three days of the Arbaaz Khan film going on floors

In the Hindi cinema industry, working on any Salman Khan starrer is not to be taken lightly. You are lucky if the actor likes you. Sajid-Wajid, Himesh Reshammiya and many others will tell you so. And if he doesn’t, then you may have to pay for it. Salman, who had earlier taken production calls for his films, has done it once again. Within three days of the film gong on floors, Arbaaz Khan’s maiden directorial has a replacement.
Cinematographer Senthil Kumar (of Magadheera fame) has been asked to pack up. And Aseem Kumar, who had been working with Salman on Ek Tha Tiger had been asked to step in.
When contacted, Aseem confirmed that he has taken over Dabangg 2. The cinematographer said, “I don’t know why Senthil is not doing the film anymore. I got a call from Arbaaz Khan. He asked me I was available to shoot for the film. I was glad to join the team. I start my work on Dabangg 2 from Tuesday. I have a great rapport with Salman Sir.”
Earlier, Senthil, who is regarded as one of the top-notch cinematographers in the Telugu film industry, was supposed to make his Bollywood debut with Dabangg 2. In fact, having seen his work down south, Arbaaz had specially asked him to work for his big-budget production. Excited about this, Senthil had in fact flown in much before the film went on floors and had been involved in the pre-production as well.
A unit member of Dabangg 2 told Mirror, “Senthil worked on Dabangg 2 for three days. There used to be long discussions about him and his style of working.”
The discussions soon turned into arguments. And before things got out of hand, Salman decided it was best if Senthil was replaced.
“Salman realised that he wouldn’t be able to get along with Senthil. The main problem was the cinematographer’s pace. Salman and Aseem get along really well during Ek Tha Tiger,” added the source.
Before Senthil, Mahesh Limaye was asked to be the cinematographer for the film. However, Limaye, who is working with Bhandarkar on Heroine, couldn’t adjust his dates for the project.
This is however, not the first time that Salman has taken production calls in his films. Earlier, he had brought in Himesh Reshammiya to compose the music for Bodyguard (which turned out to be a hit) when Pritam Chakraborty had already started work on them. Also, he had asked Sajid-Wajid to rework a song composed by Sohail Sen in Ek Tha Tiger since the actor did not quite like the beats of the same.
This time too, a friend of the actor called up to say that the decision to replace Senthil was taken in the best interests of the project. “There is no animosity between Salman and Senthil. At times, certain tough decisions have to be taken,” added the friend. Senthil remained unavailable.

Salman loses Round One
Veer filmmaker Vija Galani, who had filed a case against FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) - the film body that was fighting on behalf of Salman Khan for recovering the actor’s outstanding payment of Rs 15 crore for the film has won the first round of the battle.
The Court has given a ‘Stay Order’ on the ‘Non-cooperation Directive’ issued against Galani. This bestows Galani with the right to go ahead with any new venture that he would like to produce.
Happy with the order, Galani told Mumbai Mirror, “I am free. I was right. Else would I have gone to Court myself?”
On the other hand, reacting to Galani’s victory, FWICE General Secretary said, “We met up with Salman. We are not giving up. We are taking the matter to High Court.”

| Salman takes over SRK’s party

Like love, hatred too needs to be kept alive. And Salman Khan sure knows how to. On Monday, the actor made sure his 2008-birthday-bash-born rivalry with Shah Rukh Khan stays active as well. Salman, who was scheduled to attend a press conference for a travel website that he endorses around 11.30 am, got it postponed to make sure it clashes with SRK’s event at another end of the city.
Interestingly, SRK’s event to announce his IPL team’s tie up with a mobile brand was held at a Bandra five star close to both the Khans’ respective homes. Initially, the organisers for Salman’s conference too had tried to book the same hotel. However, due to Shah Rukh’s prior bookings, they had to shift their venue to another suburban five star in Kalina.
According to our source, when Salman learnt the reason for this shift in venue, he immediately asked the organisers to postpone his event by two hours. So late on Sunday night, people started receiving messages intimating them about a change in schedule for the event to be held on Monday afternoon. And now, Salman’s event was scheduled for 1.30 pm as opposed to SRK’s 1 pm conference.
Needless to say, this divided the media attention considerably. Moreover, on Monday, the stars who are known to reach media events late, managed to walk in for their respective press conferences around the same time. “It was a refreshing experience to have Salman walk in on time. He reached the venue by 1.35 pm. Shah Rukh on the other hand reached his conference at 1.55 pm,” added the source.
Salman’s sudden wish to postpone his media event may have had nothing to do with his archrival’s conference. But the changed timing was too close to the other event for this being a mere co-incidence. Perhaps this is one mystery only Salman can solve.

His sAfter Chillar Party, director Vikas Bahl is all set to tackle another sensitive subject- conjoined twins, except that the treatment will be of an out-and-out masala flick.
We've learnt that the film, being scripted by Sanjay Chel and Vikas, will star Salman Khan in the lead, if all goes as per plan.
Vikas Bahl confirmed the news, saying, "I am writing a film on conjoined twins. I am in the process of finishing the script and wanted Sanjay Chel on the project. So, both of us are finishing it."
Asked whether Salman would play the lead, Bahl chose to be non-committal, "I don't know. I know one thing for a fact that I will definitely get an audience with him if I have a good script. And I want to cast someone like him in the film. However, I haven't spoken to him about it."
Sanjay Chel too said, "It is a sensitive subject but there have been fun films like Stuck on You in the past. I had seen the film long back and our film has nothing to do with it. The whole idea is to put together two different sides of interesting characters and see what happens. It will be a commercial, edgy, fun film and that's all I can say at the moment."
Meanwhile, a source in the know of the project revealed, "Vikas Bahl made an extremely sensitive film like Chillar party and after watching the film, Salman Khan loved it so much that he agreed to lend his name as producer of the film, going all out to promote it. Now Vikas is busy setting up his project and wants Salman to play the lead as he is extremely close to him."

| It’s family first for Sallu

Barely had Salman Khan landed in Mumbai early Wednesday morning and producers and directors queued up at his place, waiting to meet him before he left for an international film awards function in Singapore.
Among those seeking an appointment with Sallu were Sooraj Barjatya, Sajid Nadiadwala, Subhash Ghai, Sohail Khan and Anees Bazmi, who has been waiting for an audience with the actor for the longest time.
However, it was family that scored over all else. As Mirror can tell you, Salman Khan has given his nod to Sohail Khan's Sher Khan, followed by Shirish Kunder's Kick.
A friend of the actor said, “Salman wants to start Sher Khan and Kick before the year ends. Both Sohail and Sajid Nadiadwala, who produced Kick, have waited patiently. And Salman values loyalty above all else.” As for the others who have been patiently waiting their turn, they will have to simply wait, said the friend.
There's a twist in the tale though. Mirror readers may recall Vivek Oberoi's taking a dig at Salman saying “Sher is bigger than Tiger” in an obvious reference to the titles of their upcoming films Sher and Ek Tha Tiger.
Apparently, that hasn't gone down too well with the Salman camp. Moreso as Sohail had registered the title Sher Khan long before the shooting of Sher even started.
A source close to the Khans said, “Sohail has been nurturing the project like a baby. It is meant to be Salman's first full-fledged homage to kids with dazzling special effects. The title Sher Khan was suggested by Salman. Suddenly, the Khans found the title cropping up in a Soham Shah film. They were disappointed to say the least.”
Making matters worse is the fact that apart from Vivek, Sher also stars Salman's close friend Sanjay Dutt. The Khans are faced with a dilemma where there can be no better title than Sher Khan for this do-gooder, lion-hearted hero of the masses and yet, with Dutt playing Sher, the thunder seems to have been stolen from Salman playing Sher Khan. Question is, should Salman and Sohail come up with an alternative title or go with the current one?

| Barjatya wants Arjun as Sallu’s angry young brother

Be it the mischievous Prem with an unexplained attachment to a pigeon or the younger brother Prem, who decides to give up his girl for his elder sibling, Salman Khan has essayed the role of the quintessential Rajshri hero with élan.
Also, the name Prem, though donned by Hrithik Roshan in Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon and Shahid Kapoor in Vivaah, has always remained synonymous to Salman.
And now that he is all set to resurrect his famous on-screen avtar, in Rajshri's upcoming project Bade Bhaiya, Mirror learnt that the makers have decided to get him a younger screen brother - Arjun Kapoor.
A source close to the production house told Mirror, "Sooraj Barjatya has finished the script. He wrote it keeping Salman in mind. They now need a young actor to play the parallel lead in the film. After watching Ishaqzaade, Soorajji was impressed with Arjun's performance. He arranged a meeting with Arjun and offered him the role."
The film will be a family drama. Coming from the Rajshri stable that is however, not surprising. What is interesting is that Salman, who has thus far played the younger sibling in Rajshri projects, will for the first time essay the role of the elder brother.
"The story is about two brothers. The younger one is a rebel. The film will show how the elder brother mentors him and turns him into a well-behaved man," revealed the source.
Incidentally, in real life too, Salman has been kind of a mentor to Arjun. In an interview, Arjun had once said, "Salman is my elder brother. He had told me that I was cut out for acting. But I was really obese (140 kg), and couldn't imagine myself as an actor. Salman literally took me under his wings... He believed in me and that's why I am here today." And now, he may get to be his younger brother in reel life too.
However, when contacted, Mr Gupta, the General Manager of Rajshri Productions maintained, "Sooraj ji is still writing the script of the film. He hasn't reached the casting stage yet."Reportedly, the film may release on Eid next year.

| Sallu to play a super-hero with magical locks

From being the actor who had to get hair weaving done to counter a receding hairline, to playing a Samson-like character with special powers in his tresses, Salman Khan has surely come a long way.
In his upcoming project Sher Khan, to be directed by broher Sohail Khan, he will play a super-hero with special powers in his shoulder-length hair. What's more, in keeping with the Bollywood legacy of Sher Khan being a pathan (a la Pran in Prakash Mehra's 1973 blockbuster Zanjeer), Salman's character too, will have similar roots.
Interestingly, last time Salman played a Pathan was in Sawan Kumar's 1991 film Sanam Bewafa. But Salman Khan's Sher Khan will not be the stereotypical gender-mixing (hum bolegi, tum sunegi) Pathan.
In the words of writer Rumi Jaffery, Sohail's home production will "feature Salman in a look he has never tried before." Needless to say, this superhero will be quite different from Superman, Spider Man or the indigenous Krrish or G.One.
In an earlier version of the script, Sher Khan was meant to be a South Indian action star a la Dabangg or Rowdy Rathore. "Kona Venkatesh who wrote Salman's Ready was summoned to do the screenplay for the film. Now, Sohail and Salman have changed their mind. They roped in Rumi Jaffery to write an action film for the kids instead," a source told Mirror.
"Though he has had a massive fan following among kids, none of Salmanbhai's films have been specially targeted at children. Dilip Shukla (who's also writing Dabangg 2) and I are designing bhai's first film aimed at the young viewers," added Rumi.
And the superhero Salman won't be flying in the air wearing a cape. "He will be a hero that kids can identify with. The action scenes won't have him beating up a dozen goons single-handedly. He has done these things many times before," said Rumi.
We learnt that Salman's action scenes will be inspired by the ancient forms of martial arts from Kerala.
But the leading lady opposite superhero Salman is yet to be finalised. "It has to be someone who can perform well. Since Salmanbhai is changing in Sher Khan, the leading lady can't be familiar either. We're looking. We have time. We start in October."

| Salman’s body double injured during film stunt

A body-double of actor Salman Khan sustained minor injuries to his hands in a freak accident during the shooting of Dabangg-2 at Mehboob Studio in Bandra on Saturday afternoon.
The injured man, whose identity was not known, was injured when a car, in front of which he was supposed to leap, accidentally moved beyond the point at which it was meant to stop, brushing past his hands and forearms, according to the police. The body double was taken for a check-up to Lilavati Hospital.

| Party with Sallu for Rs 1.75 crore

With a string of hits to his credit, Salman Khan is not just one of the highest paid actors when it comes to films. He has reportedly been quoting a jaw-dropping Rs 1.75 crore to make an appearance at events. What's more, the actor also wants to be ferried in chartered flights.
Reportedly, Salman, after the success of Wanted, Dabangg and Ready, has raised his fee to a whopping Rs 50 crore (which includes profit share).
But the box-office effect has rubbed off on the actor's off-screen aura as well. According to an insider, recently when he was offered Rs 1 crore along with a chartered flight for a couple of events in Dubai, the actor flatly refused to take them up.
Insiders revealed that this sudden and staggering hike in remuneration is a brainwave of Salman's manager Reshma Shetty. According to reports, she was also the one who had convinced Salman to hike his fee for Dus Ka Dum and Bigg Boss.
Sources close to the actor told Mirror that more offers for events (business launch, birthdays, weddings) have started pouring in. “Everybody wants Salman to perform at their event. If one person fails to offer him the amount of money he asks, another will,” said the source.
But Salman’s spoils of success don’t stop at merely a price hike. Mirror has learnt that certain producers even consult the actor whether he wants the director of the film changed before he signs the project. And though, Salman does not push his choices, he does mention names of his favourite directors and asks the producers to select one.
Reshma Shetty did not respond to our calls and text messages. Neither did Salman.

Salman Khan to play Hanuman
Maybe it's pure coincidence that the actor chooses to remain a bachelor off-screen as well. But we hear Salman Khan is Uru Patel's actor of choice when it comes to playing Lord Hanuman in the producer's modern-day re-telling of the epic Ramayana that he plans to put on floors next year.
Salman Khan will be Uru's contemporary Hanuman, a super hero who can fly over mountains and skyscrapers to rescue Sita from the evil present-day Ravana. A source close to the project revealed the role had initially been offered to Aamir Khan but “somehow, things did not materialise.”
Word is Uru is keen on Hollywood stars Keanu Reeves and Gary Oldman portraying Rama and Ravana, respectively. And while Shilpa Shetty was to essay the role of Sita, the actress opted out after the stork came visiting her. The latest being the hunt is on for a fresh international face to play Sita. Uru's Ramayana, incidentally his brother Raju's (late brother-in-law of Kumar Gaurav) dream, will see all the epic characters being reborn in 2012-13 New York.
“Uru wants to turn that dream into reality. Salman has shown interest. Things are being worked out but it's not going to be easy putting the film together. The cost is going to be astronomical as well,” said the source.
