Amitabh Bachchan Will be The Watch Bbuddah

Chakpak News Service on 23 May 2011 10:14 AM

Amitabh Bachchan mixes his own sense fashion for his look in the upcoming film Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap

Amitabh Bachchan is starring in the upcoming film Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap directed by Puri Jagannadh. He will be donning a stylish look for the film and has mixed his own sense of style in the film. Amitabh is known for his onscreen looks and images which are different and fashionable like his own persona. His Gucci glasses in Cheeni Kum (2007), his Pirates Of The Caribbean look in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007), his assortment of rings in Sarkar (2005) and Sarkar Raj (2008) have all added character to his roles in the films.

The picture features Amitabh in a classy jacket with a jazzy shirt giving a stylish look that is finished perfectly with the scarf. The interesting feature is his watch. Sources say that when watch-lover Amitabh turned up for the shoot with 2 wrist watches, the director thought that the accessory would go with Big B’s image in the film and decided to make it a permanent feature.

Bbuddah will see AB return to his angry old man image. The movie hits theatres on 1st July, 2011.

Amitabh Bachchan Adds Extra Romantic Elements to Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap

Chakpak News Service on 25 May 2011 9:04 AM

Actor Amitabh Bachchan has added some extra romantic elements to his upcoming movie Bbhuddah Hoga Tera Baap

As the movie nears its completion, lead actor Amitabh Bachchan has begun taking active interest in the post production of his upcoming film Bbhuddah Hoga Tera Baap.

A source reveals, “Mr Bachchan is really excited about Bbuddah… He is going all-out to ensure that every department of the film is perfect. He felt that the film is too action-oriented and there isn’t enough romance. So, he has asked director Puri Jagannath to add some romantic elements in the midst of all the push and shove.”

Hence, a romantic song that was picturized on actors Sonal Chauhan and Sonu Sood had to be redone as Big B felt it was “not melodic enough”. Sood confirmed the same saying, “He (Amitabh Bachchan) felt the song was not romantic enough. It’s been re-done. We will shoot it next week.”

Amitabh Bachchan and Nana Patekar are Two Sides of the Same Coin

Chakpak News Service on 26 May 2011 7:42 AM

Amitabh Bachchan and Nana Patekar will be essaying the same role but in the Hindi and Marathi counterparts respectively. The film is an adaptation of VV Shirwadkar’s Marathi play Natsamrat

Mahesh Manjrekar (of Viruddh… Family Comes First 2005 fame) who is making a film based on VV Shirwadkar’s Marathi play Natsamrat has roped in Amitabh Bachchan for the Hindi film and Nana Patekar for the Marathi film. Given the fact that the play is considered a fine piece of work by critics, the adapted film has already created much hype. Sources say that Manjrekar has undertaken immense trouble to obtain the rights for the film.

Manjrekar confirmed, “That’s the only casting that makes sense for this epic work.”

Both the veteran actors have worked together in Kohram (1999)

A Hanuman for Big B from MF Husain
TNN | Jun 10, 2011, 12.41am IST

Among those mourning the death of painter MF Husain, hailed as India's Picasso, is superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

He remarked, "MF Hussain, artist, painter, friend ... passes away! Sad, very sad! Many of his works and gifts adorn my home." Bachchan tweets, "Hussain's best painting gift to me..a Hanuman with 'jadi buti' flying .. given to me in Breach Candy Hospital, during Coolie episode." Who knows, maybe it was this famous 'Sanjeevani booti' that saved the star's life all those years ago?

That's not all. Reveals the Big B, "Another special painting he did for me.. translated my poem I wrote in hospital, on canvas ... very special and most endearing!!"

Amitabh steals Aamir's thunder
Upala KBR, TNN | Jun 18, 2011, 12.00am IST

On Wednesday night Aamir Khan had invited Amitabh Bachchan as a special guest for his event. Bachchan graciously turned up — but in his full Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap look thus stealing the limelight completely away from AK .

To go into flashback, Aamir had shown up in the Ghajini bald look (that he's been hiding for months), making the premiere became the side attraction while Aamir became the main one.

Says an eye witness, "Aamir had a grand party to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his production house. Naturally the media was present there in huge numbers and Aamir was more than happy at all the attention he was getting. But all hell broke loose when the Big B walked in his Bbuddha character. The media went into a frenzy and requested him to mouth the lines from his forthcoming film Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap. Initially, Bachchan resisted and politely told the media that it was Aamir's event and he didn't want to promote his film on that platform. But when the TV crews persisted, he put his hand on Aamir's shoulder and said, 'Bbuddah hoga tera baap!' in his impressive baritone. The media went wild and refused to leave him till he spoke to them at length about the film in details. Everyone forgot about Aamir and Lagaan it was only Bachchan's voice after that."

R&B team for Nikhil Advani’s next opus

Rishi, Ranbir, and the Bachchan father-son have come together for Mehrunnisa

Posted On Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 02:47:38 AM

Circa 1983, Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor shared screen space in Manmohan Desai’s blockbuster Coolie. 28 years later, the stars will reunite for Sudhir Mishra’s directorial venture Mehrunnisa. And that’s not all. The project produced by Nikhil Advani will also have the actors’ sons Abhishek and Ranbir making cameo appearances, making it one of Sudhir’s most ambitious project till date.

While Amitabh and Abhishek have worked together in films like Bunty Aur Babli, Sarkar and Sarkar Raj, Rishi and his son Ranbir have never shared screen space. “It is a script that Sudhir Mishra started writing in 1996. However, it failed to take off that time. Nikhil Advani was Sudhir’s assistant back then. After all these years, Nikhil approached Sudhir and asked him to rework the script. Saurabh Shukla is writing the dialogues for the film,” revealed a source.

Talking about the storyline, the source said, “The film starts off with two old men played by Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor reminiscing about their past. Here is where Abhishek and Ranbir come in. They play their respective fathers’ younger selves.”

“Nikhil wanted to take this film on the floors this year. But both Ranbir and Abhishek are busy with other projects now. The film will go on floors only next year now,” added the source.

When contacted, Nikhil Advani refused to comment on the project. Sudhir Mishra remained unavailable as well. “Neither Nikhil nor Sudhir want to talk about the project right now.

It’s a huge project and they want to announce it in a big way later. Both Amitabh and Rishi have loved the script and agreed to do it. In fact, the film should also star Sudhir’s favourite Chitrangda Singh,” informed the source.

Though Amitabh and Rishi were a part of Rakeysh Omprakaash Mehra’s Delhi 6, the actors did not share any screen space. They have earlier worked in super hit films like Amar Akbar Anthony and Kabhi Kabhi.

Big B and Rishi Kapoor were a part of Delhi 6 too, where the earlier did a guest appearance but did not share any screen space with Rishi. They have earlier been parts of superhit films such as Amar Akbar Anthony and Kabhi Kabhie.

The film starts off with two old men played by Amitabh and Rishi reminiscing about their past

Big B, Shilpa get a 'trunk' call

Posted On Monday, September 05, 2011 at 03:13:46 AM

Lord Ganesha, the deity of prosperity and wealth is the ruling god for most businesses. And Bollywood is no exception. Amitabh Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty with her husband Raj Kundra and Rahul Roy with wife Rajlaxmi visited Lalbagcha Raja on Sunday to offer their prayers to Ganesha during the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi festival in the city.

Amitabh Bachchan, who was recently in Kashmir to immerse Shammi Kapoor's ashes in the Dal Lake, came to seek Ganesha's blessings with singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan. With a new baby Bachchan on its way, grandpa Amitabh seemed to be extra careful with his prayers. Shilpa and Raj, who recently wrapped up their own Ganesh Chaturthi celebration at home, looked happy to be a part of the celebrations. Braving the crowd at Lalbaug, actor Rahul Roy and wife Rajlaxmi too came to offer their prayers to the Lord.

Free for Hollywood

Posted On Friday, September 09, 2011 at 03:07:45 AM

He isn't making a big deal of the Baz Luhrmann-directed The Great Gatsby because he does not see it as his big ticket to Hollywood. Rather, sources close to Bachchan revealed that the star was doing the role for free and as a gesture of friendship towards the Australian director.

"Last year Baz Luhrmann was on a private visit to India and dropped by at my office to meet me and presented me some wonderful paintings done by an Australian artist," disclosed Bachchan, adding that in August this year Luhrmann spoke to him about the role in his new film.

"He asked me if I would do a small part in his film. It's just a small scene with Leonardo Dicaprio and Toby Macguire. My character Meyer Wolfsheim is patterned on an iconic character of the time, Rothstein, a very impressive and well known person of the New York underworld mafia."

"I have agreed to do this just as a friendly appearance and went across to Sydney late last month for rehearsals and hair make-up and costume tests. The reading workshop requires for the entire cast to assemble and get familiar with the script and do a read through."

He will shoot for a couple of days sometime in mid-October.

Baz Lurhmann signs AB for Great Gatsby

Posted On Thursday, September 08, 2011 at 03:20:00 AM

At 69, Amitabh Bachchan is ready to make his debut in a Hollywood mega-opus directed by Baz Luhrmann who has long professed a fascination with India.

Luhrmann, acclaimed director of films like Romeo and Juliet, Moulin Rouge and also the forgettable Australia, is working on a film adaptation of Scott F. Fitzgerald's classic The Great Gatsby, a richly textured fin-de-siecle or turn of the century novel.

The book has previously been filmed four times; most memorable was the 1974 adaptation starring Robert Redford as the tragic millionaire Jay Gatsby.

In Lurhmann's version Leonardo diCaprio who had also starred as Romeo in the director's version of Shakespeare's classic love story, will play Gatsby. Others in the cast include Toby Maguire and Carey Mulligan.

Amitabh Bachchan plays the small but crucial role of Meyer Wolfsheim, a notorious underworld figure and an associate of Gatsby.

In the book Wolfsheim is described as a small, flat-nosed Jew. Wolfsheim who famously wore cuff-links made from human molars is a mix of barbarism and refinement, and personifies Fizgerald's view of the hedonistic 1920s, and remains till the end, curiously loyal to Gatsby.

Sources say that Luhrmann met Amitabh Bachchan last year in February on his trip to India as part of an Indo-Australian goodwill initiative, and they discussed working together.

Bachchan joins a growing list of colleagues from Mumbai film industry who are now working in prestigious international projects including Om Puri, Naseerudding Shah, Irrfan Khan, Anupam Kher, and most recently Anil Kapoor.

In the past the star actor had received offers from the West but he desisted from acting in them because they were mostly stereotypical Indian characters unlike Wolfsheim.

Another, a more deeply personal reason that drove him to accept the offer was that his father, poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, who did his post-doctoral thesis on WB Yeats at Cambridge, was an admirer of Fizgerald's works.

Sources said that the film's producers Warner Bros had signed Bachchan to star in Mira Nair's film adaptation of Shantaram starring Johnny Depp, but the film got indefinitely postponed and Warner Bros were loathe to let go of Bachchan and persuaded him to consider Luhmann's film which is likely to be released next year.

The Great Gatsby (1925)

American novel The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, was first published in 1925.

It captures the era of prosperity, dubbed the Jazz Age, in Long Island, New York post World War I.

It is the story of an eccentric millionaire Jay Gatsby who is well known for his lavish parties. Nick Carraway, a Midwesterner who lives on Long Island, narrates the tale about Gatsby's love for a married woman Daisy.

The story ends with Gatsby's death.

At 69, Amitabh Bachchan logs on to his fan base
IANS | Oct 11, 2011, 10.48AM IST

Superstar, megastar, star of the millennium...Amitabh Bachchan has been given many epithets in his four-decade long career in Bollywood. And the actor, who turns 69 Tuesday, is now trying to harness the online medium to reach out to the very people who showered these accolades on him - his fans.

Whether it's Twitter, his blog or his voice blog, Amitabh is on a mission to connect with as many people as possible.

After starting his blog in 2008, the Big B went on to start his voice blog called Bol Bachchan in 2010. He later joined micro-blogging site Twitter. Amitabh says connecting with common people has helped him learn a lot.

"I think the social sites like the blog and Twitter are absolutely fabulous because they give you a chance to put your thoughts down and immediately get a response," Amitabh told IANS in an interview.

"So in case you're going wrong, you have the time to correct yourself, and in case you are right, you get an endorsement that you're doing something correct. Most of the times, the opinions we get from people are brilliant...It's learning for me," he added.

An avid blogger, Amitabh has regularly been sharing his personal and professional experiences with what he calls his "extended family". Be it information about his ailments or the soon-to-be-a-granddad status, he keeps everyone up-to-date with the latest in his life.

"When those that connect with me on the mobile or on the hot seat and express their happiness of merely getting the opportunity to talk to me or to be in the same environ, it embarrasses me. But somewhere I feel happy at the justification," Amitabh wrote on his blog.

"For it is not something that brings me the joy of justification. It is the justification of the joy that I see in the eyes of the other. That for me is the moment of glory, if ever it could be called that," he added.

Amitabh started his Bollywood career in 1969 with Khwaja Ahmad Abbas' "Saat Hindustani", but it was 1973 film "Zanjeer" that actually kick-started his film journey. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Amitabh's stint on game show "Kaun Banega Crorepati" has brought him closer to the people of real India. The latest season of the show sees a lot of contestants from the disadvantaged groups, for whom meeting their screen idol is a dream come true.

The actor leaves no stone unturned to make his contestants feel special on the show. He happily obliges their demands and fulfilof s their wishes in whichever way he can.

Amitabh admits he is inspired by the way these contestants delightfully make things work despite adverse circumstances.

"To learn of their struggles and their pains in making ends meet, to experience the efforts that they make despite adverse circumstances to reach out to those dependent on them, to touch upon subjects that we would in our normal existence be overlooked is not just enlightening but one that is filled with a huge amount of guilt. Guilt at not being able to do something for them," said Amitabh.

Revealed: Big B's hip rustic look in Department

Posted On Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 02:43:30 AM

Amitabh Bachchan, who has been experimenting with his on screen avatars in his recent films, has gone ahead and got an image makeover yet again for his forthcoming film Department. Mumbai Mirror brings you an exclusive sneak peek.

Sporting dhoti style pajamas, a red scarf and shades, Bachchan plays the role of a reformed gangster Sarjerao Gaikwad, who claims that he too has achieved wisdom like Gautam Buddha.

The look on his face, however, reminds one of DCP Dashrath Singh, his character in the 2005 film Bunty Aur Babli. In this Ram Gopal Varma film, the actor will be seen helping the politicians fight the underworld.

Zanjeer 2 in trouble?

Posted On Saturday, November 05, 2011 at 02:30:12 AM

The sequel to the film that catapulted Amitabh Bachchan into stardom has reportedly become the subject of a tug-of-war between filmmakers Amit Mehra and Anil Mishra. In recent media reports, Amit announced his plans to make a sequel to his father Prakash Mehra’s Zanjeer, which had created box-office history.

However, a source informed Mumbai Mirror that small time filmmaker, Anil Mishra, had already registered the title Zanjeer 2 in 2006.

According to the source, Mehra was keen to cast Big B’s son Abhishek in the film. However, Mishra has not only beat Mehra to registering the title first, but has also already spoken to Abhishek about working in his film.

The source explained, “Mishra, who worked in AB Corp and then ABCL, has worked with the Bachchan family for the past ten years. He has always wanted to make a sequel to Zanjeer and he had even spoken to Abhishek to do a cameo in the film.

However, the project had to be put on the back burner, as Mishra didn’t have adequate funds for the film to go on floors in 2006. He is finally ready to make the film, which will go on floors early next year.”

When contacted, Mishra said, “I had registered the title in 2006. I then renewed the title in 2008. I have ownership of the title Zanjeer 2 till 2012. I plan to start filming early next year. The script, which has been written by S Khan, has already been finalised.

I have brought documentary filmmaker Rajeev Soni on-board to direct the film and we have cast Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster actor Mukesh Tyagi for the role of Pran.”

Amitabh Bachchan blogs about baby girl
Last updated on: November 17, 2011 11:26 IST

Amitabh Bachchan and family may be exhausted after Aishwarya Rai gave birth to her first child in the morning yesterday but they are in no mood to slow down yet.

After tweeting about the new mother and the baby's well being, the Big B posted a heart-warming new post on his blog, lovingly describing the latest addition to the Bachchan clan and savouring every moment of it.

He wrote: "The soft innocence of nature rests in my arms, oblivious of what else happens around her. Occasionally she opens her large and what looks now to be eyes of the lighter hue, which those that have dealt with similar, know shall change with time. Often the gentlest of smiles quiver across her pouted upper lip, the shut eyes bringing expression through the brows and the settling down to that dream she must dream."

The Big B also gets a little nostalgic as he holds the baby in his arms, "As I look down upon her I bring myself back to the visual when I had placed her Father in just condition into my Father's hands, to be heralded into our home. I stare at her in silence. She reciprocates in similar vein. It is too delicate a moment."

Assigned the ever-so-important task of taking pictures, Bachchan describes how, at the moment, the little girl is the centre of the universe for the whole family as they gather around her, trying to figure out who she resembles and recounting the whole experience.

Bachchan also remembers his late parents -- Harivansh Rai and Teji Bachchan -- and seeks their blessings.

Soft innocence rests in my arms: Amitabh Bachchan

Posted On Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 04:57:36 PM

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan is the family's official cameraman to record the birth of his granddaughter. And as he clicks, he confesses to shedding some tears of joy behind the lens.

He blogs, "The soft innocence of nature rests in my arms, oblivious of what else happens around her. Occasionally she opens her large and what looks now to be eyes of the lighter hue, which those that have dealt with similar, know shall change with time. Often the gentlest of smiles quiver across her pouted upper lip, the shut eyes bringing expression through the brows and the settling down to that dream she must dream. Her head covered in the littlest of head gear she will ever adorn, snuggles into her mini quilt of varied colors dominated by the pink softness of its material."

In silent communion with son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya rai Bachchan's daughter, the grandfather writes, "As I look down upon her I bring myself back to the visual when I had placed her Father in just condition into my Father's hands, to be heralded into our home. I stare at her in silence. She reciprocates in similar vein. It is too delicate a moment. I am unaccustomed to such delicate state. Should I shake my arms cradle like to give comfort, or maybe simply remain still as family cameras and members gather around. The ladies about, ogle with baby like sounds intermittently, and deliver diverse opinions on who she resembles. There are animated conversations of how this state of delivery was reached, in some intricate terminology and detail. These words are new to me. I have not heard them. Or perhaps not heard them often enough to know them. After a pregnant pause it is time for her to be airlifted from within my arms. I give this angelic face a prolonged look ..."

His thoughts turn to his own father, the late poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, "Dad ! I hold the 9th Bachchan in my hands .. this family that you started .. !! Amitabh, Ajitabh, Shweta, Nilima, Namrata, Abhishek, Naina, Bhim and now .. this beauty, unnamed so far ... I hope you and Ma look upon us from above and bless us and your latest addition. To carry forward what then may have seemed a somewhat limited expectation. The tradition continues and may it prosper by your love and your aashirvaad."

It's been a tiring but satisfying journey for the family. He shares, "It has been a tiring day for all, especially the Mother, who has shown exceptional strength and courage. It has been a day of great joy and combined happiness. It has been a day of immense emotion. Tears of joy have erupted among all that were from family and about Aishwarya all along. On occasion they have tried desperately to occupy mine as well. But as the 'official' camera recorder of the event I have secretly dropped a few behind the eyes of the lens that I hold. These are rare moments and rare reactions."

He adds, "A new life a new generation has begun. The process of continuity reigns. The world still rotates the way it does. We shall live our destined lives and be removed, but the process shall continue. May the process be eternal for the one that has just arrived. May it be full of happiness and joy always and may we be a part of it for as long as we can ... As one well wisher in his mobile message declared - 'May you live to dance at the wedding of this angel in your life'. May we all ... indeed !!"

FRIDAY, NOV 25, 2011

“I was approached by the officials of the Endemol India and offered a place in ‘Big Boss’, but I refused,” said Sushil. “More than any thing, my image is important for me. I don’t want to do anything that affects my image.”

Endemol India has been producing “Big Boss” that comes on Color channel. In the reality show, celebrities from different walks of life are locked inside a house for 14 weeks.
