When Katrina taught Rekha to dance
Rekha and SRK were performing together at the Karbonn Mobile STAR Screen this year and Rekha, being a true professional, kept on rehearsing till she got her act to perfection. As a result SRK didn’t have an option and he parked himself at the rehearsal hall to match up to Rekha’s stature. She did not leave him till she was completely happy with their act.
In the meanwhile, Katrina waited for four hours for the rehearsal stage. Rekha was extremely nice to Katrina when she met her backstage. She told her that she was thoroughly impressed and mesmerized by her Belly Dancing in Sheila Ki Jawani and floored the young actress by asking her to teach her some thumkas and jhatkas right there. Katrina was more than happy to oblige.
For the first time since the release of Sheila Ki Jawani, Katrina performed on the song on stage. She danced to an exclusive mix of Sheila Ki Jawani, Zara Touch Me from Race, and the reggae song, Burn It Up by Wysin and Yandel featuring R.Kelly. Katrina set the stage on fire with her sizzling act. She wore costumes from the song, including a short sari and harem pants with a sexy blouse. Her Belly Dancing performance will amaze you!
Rekha had a lot of fun on stage with SRK and Shahid and the other way also holds true. She looked gorgeous in a golden saree, her trademark red lipstick and side-swept loose hair. She enthralled one and all with shayari from her hit songs such as Salaam-e-ishq and In aankhon ki masti mein and SRK matched his Urdu with hers. Her grace was enchanting and it would be wonderful to see her dance more often. With her eternal sensuality and timeless beauty, she can give any young actress a run for her money. Shahid behaved like a young boy learning from the veterans and he was utterly cute and charming. Both SRK and Shahid were very respectful towards Rekha and all the humour and flirting was in good taste.

| FITOOR TOO BURNS IN THE BONFIRE OF VANITIES

Rekha bows out of the Abhishek Kapoor film after viewing the final rushes of the desi adaptation of Great Expectations, two days after the film's shoot was completed.
Just 24 hours earlier, Mirror had reported that Rekha, who plays the Indian version of the lovelorn eccentric Miss Havisham in Abhishek Kapoor's Fitoor, was displeased with the final rushes of the film which wrapped up shooting this weekend.
A source close to the film had told the paper that when Rekha saw herself on screen, she immediately told the director that she was unhappy with her look and requested Gattu to re-shoot some of the portions featuring her. And even though he was satisfied with the scenes, he readily agreed to oblige Rekha.
The unit then extended the shoot by a few extra days and were expected to re-shoot sequences starting Monday at Mehboob studios. But the lot remained empty thanks to a shocking new development. Mirror has learnt that Rekha has bowed out of the film.
Fitoor follows the journey of an orphan boy, Noor, who falls for Firdaus, the glamorous but aloof protege of Begum, an aging, heartbroken recluse.
The choice of Rekha as Begum was lauded as the perfect casting coup but now the makers have been left scrambling for a replacement. And both Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur who play the romantic leads will have to re-shoot their sequences with the actress who steps into the shoes of the legendary star. "The replacement will now have to film with both Katrina and Aditya who will have to find matching dates in their packed diaries," reveals a source close to the development.
Confirming this news, a forlorn Abhishek said, "It is entirely our loss to have missed this chance to work with the legendary Rekhaji, and I hope to work with her in the future." But what caused this shock exit? While Gattu remained silent on the topic, a source close to the development said,"Rekha came to the conclusion that she is not looking good on screen and that no re-shoot can salvage it. She therefore decided to exit the project. The producers won't be taking any legal action against the veteran actress."
Meanwhile, the production house backing the project has chalked out her exit to a clash of shooting schedules. "Since the Fitoor schedule has changed from what was planned initially, the new dates clashed with Rekhaji's prior professional commitments. She has therefore expressed that she will be unable to accommodate these dates and will regrettably have to bow out of the film. We fully appreciate her position and hope to be able to work with her in the future," said UTV's spokesperson.

| Yash Chopra taught me how to love: Rekha
Mumbai: Actress Rekha, who was honoured with the Yash Chopra Memorial Award, says that the filmmaker taught her how to love and inspired her to write "shayri".
"Talking about Yashji would be like 'chota muh badi baat'... what can we say about him? I'd like to definitely state that he taught me how to love. Not just by watching his films (did) I understand 'Oh, this is love', not just by speaking or watching that there is beauty and a very tender emotion, but a feeling that is invisible which every person definitely feels it - that Yashji taught me," Rekha said in her speech after accepting the award.
It was Rekha's turn to receive an award after she is usually the one who is seen presenting awards to the best actor or actress. On this, she said: "I've always maintained that it's more important for me to give than to receive. I guess I gave my share of the only thing I know of, that is love."
"I take this award as not just an award or a validation but I think it is something of a reminder to say that the curtains have not fallen yet but the best is still to come in the near future. And it will definitely be a reminder for me to do better than the best, better than ever before and this is not my last chapter but it is the best chapter, yet to begin."
Rekha had acted in Chopra's films such as "Faasle" and "Silsila" starring Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, both of which were strong love stories.
"Being in Yashji's company, I have become a 'shayar', I've written one 'sher'. He inspired me and taught me this," she added and then recited the couplet as well as one of her dialogues which had been written by Gulzar.
As someone tried to imitate Chopra's "hmm" after her recital, Rekha responded that no one could replicate it the same way because of the base it had.
The award has been instituted by the T.S.R. Foundation of T Subbarami Reddy in the memory of the producer-director, who died in 2012, to annually honour a distinguished senior film personality for outstanding contribution to film industry with a gold medal and a cash prize of Rs.10 lakh.
Previous recipients include Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar and megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
The Jury constituted to zero in on this year's awardee comprised Pamela Chopra, Simi Garewal, Boney Kapoor, Jayaprada, Pinki Reddy and Reddy himself as its chairman and they unanimously decided that the third award should go to the actress par-excellence.
Among the celebrity guests included Ranveer Singh, David Dhawan, Poonam Dhillon, Jaya Prada, Adnan Sami, Mohan Babu, Gulshan Grover and many others.

The evergreen beauty of Bollywood, Rekha was honoured with the third Yash Chopra Memorial Award in Mumbai on January 25.The award was presented by Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao in recognition of her talent and contribution to the film industry.
